ISU published the list of officials for new season.

Now that Cyprus have Ice Dancers....they acquired an ISU judge ;) Valérie Grelet-Lambert switched from France to Cyprus.

Retired judges: Janet Gardner (Australia), Andrea Baldi (Italy), Erica Sonderegger (Switzerland), Kathleen Harmon (USA) and Linda Leaver (USA).

Technical controllers
(ISU qualification needed for JGPs, GPs, ISU Championships. Challengers need to have 2 out of 3 in the technical panel with ISU qualification)

Julia Rey (USA) is the first one using the new rule allowing ISU Technical Specialists to take the examination to become also ISU Technical Controllers (because there is a lack of TCs).

New promotions to ISU status: Christian Bauman (Germany) and Marcin Kozubek (Poland). Marcin won a Junior World Bronze medal back in 1997 (with Agata Błażowska). And John Miller (USA).

Alla Shekhovtseva is listed as only "international". She obviously used to have ISU status also as Technical Controller. Anyway Russian officials are suspend at the moment..

New International: Cathleen Cutone (USA).

John Millier (USA) retired.

Technical specialists
(ISU qualification needed for JGPs, GPs, ISU Championships. Challengers need to have 2 out of 3 in the technical panel with ISU qualification)

Promoted to ISU level: Benjamin Blum and Stefano Caruso. Both from Germany Fed. Both raised pretty quickly. They become International respectively in 2017 and 2018.

New International:
Bianka Szijgyarto (Hungary). Skated in late 90s. She did a couple of Euros and Worlds. Now based in USA.
Kristy Balkwill (Canada). She was skating in late 90s/early 00s. Mainly at National level.
Marisa Gravino (Canada). First partner of Patrice Lauzon.
Marien de la Asuncion (France). Skated for Japen until 2017.
Amaury Druesne (France)
Anna Cappellini (Italy). Well, I guess no description needed.
Alper Ucar (Turkey). Olympian in 2014 and 2018.
Stephanie Jenkins (USA)

Thomas Rauer (Germany) retired. He hasn't called since 2015 and he was already demoted from ISU to International because of lack of service.

Dorreen Hoppe (Great Britain) is demoted from ISU to International status.

Svetlana Lyapina switched from Russia to Australia. She is Jonathan Guerreiro's mother.

Do officials also have to sit out a year when they switch federation?

If they get the approval of the previous Fed, they can immediately switch to another Fed (if they have the requirements to do so: citizenship and permanent residency).

If they don't get the approval of previous Fed or if they haven't moved residency, they have to wait for a year before switching.

John Millier appears as an ISU Technical Controller for dance on yesterday's ISU list for 2022/23 (p. 28).

On the 2021/22 ISU list (p. 16), Millier was an International Technical Controller for dance.

Ah ok, thanks for spotting it. Sorry, I must have got my eyes tired after 27 pages (especially because I did Ice Dance after checking all Single and Pairs). So he was promoted and that's why I wasn't seeing in the list of Internationals when cross-checking with previous year.

🤗 You are totally hard-core 💪 to comb through the entire ISU lists every season and keep track of the zillions of names. A daunting endeavor that I would never dream of attempting.

The lists make my eyes glaze over 😵 even when I venture into taking only a narrow look for some specific reason (such as my curiosity about Millier, in this case).

THANK YOU for taking the time to compile all this info! :respec: I quoted your post #181 (removed the John Millier reference) and have started a thread in GSD:

Thanks. Somehow I doubt that the powers that be in the French Fed will have objected to an opportunity to extend their tentacles of influence.

Two new teams at Villard de Lans:

Alice Dousse / Danil Pak, representing Kazakhstan, assigned to JGP Yerevan

Eva Bernard / Amedeo Bonetto

Also Tiffani Zagorski will coach there for the next 3 weeks.

One of the young teams at Lake Placid had an assisted jump that basically looked like a falling leaf with an assist. Nice. You know a gorgeous Russian or falling leaf can be a show stopper in a singles program. Ditto could be true with dance if done with gorgeous extension & suspension on the right note of the music.

May I ask which team?Thank you!
I'm sorry, but I can't remember. I meant to post about it right after watching last weekend, but I forgot. I feel like it was one of the novice teams & she might have been wearing black? Anyway, she had enough flexibility and stretch to make the falling leaf position stand out. I watched all the juveniles through novices plus all the international juniors and seniors so . . . I could be remembering the competitive level incorrectly.

FYI, if anyone wants to check out a few of the young teams, I really recommend the Peals's Halo FD (which you should be able to just watch on the JGP this week), the Fischers's Can't Touch This FD, and Li & Le Coq's FD (which is just an instrumental West Side Story, but shows off their talent & time together).

What do you all think about the musical arrangements for F/G’s FD? I kind of like the techno but am ambivalent about the epic movie soundtrack version of Bad Romance.
I see what you mean -- the different pieces of music fit together awkwardly.

The costuming for the Lady Gaga program is way too conservative. Take a note from Chock and Bates and go for it! They are clearly still working on the moves - I’ll wait to see how it looks in a few weeks.

The RDs this season just look weird without any pattern.

2022/23 Handbook for Technical Panel published by ISU:

With the abolishment of the term "assistant technical specialist", technical specialists are now TS1 and TS2. TS2 does what ATS previously did.
So for those keeping track on how reviews change original calls when there is the box with live calls, the first calls for Women are done by the first TS listed in the ISU result page and the calls for Men are done by the second name listed. So basically, in Courchevel, Women's first calls were by Philipp Rey and Men's first calls were by Tomas Kika.
On Key Points
TS1 calls:
1AT - KP1 and KP3
2AT - KP1 and KP3

TS2 calls
1AT – Key points 2 & 4
2AT – Key points 2 & 4

I guess the costumes may not be the final ones. It is not uncommon not to have the final versions in the first outings (especially when they are at B events).

You’re probably right - I forget how early in the season it is.

I just miss the Golden Waltz. I'm so tired of watching senior dance teams in the simplest holds possible for the least amount of time, and otherwise just skating side by side like 2 pair skaters, or spending 50% of the program in a some kind of lift.
