From earlier in this thread:
New interview with Alexander Majorov [before 2017 Nebelhorn Trophy]

http://www.absoluteskating.com/index.php?cat=interviews&id=2017majorov
Relevant excerpt:
So what exactly are the Swedish Olympic Committee's requirements?
A minimum of 258 points. Before my first Olympic Games [in 2014] the minimum was to place 18th at Worlds.

When did you find out about the points required?
After Worlds in Helsinki. I did ask them a long time ago, but never got an answer. It was extremely hard not knowing. I wanted to know the exact deal and have it in writing, and I finally got it after Worlds. This time it's not about placement, but points achieved at either Challenger, Grand Prix or Euros that count. So I will either get dropped from the Swedish committee's program already after the Nebelhorn Trophy or after Euros, or after the free program at the Olympics. It's a raw deal but it's good to be aware so you're not suddenly in shock. I have a plan now and know exactly what to do and when, if it happens. It's good to have this communication though; there won't be any media chaos for something you might have said. Information should go to the athlete first, and not to the media. The athlete should know the policy before it becomes official.

Here is a link to Alexanders videoblogg [after he won the bronze at Nebelhorn & earned an Olympic men's berth for SWE] where he explains the requirements from SOK

https://play.mobicast.tv/sports/alexander-majorov-konstakning/i-did-it
Kolyada scored 257.47 in his 8th place finish at Helsinki Worlds. Majorov scored 225.86 in his 7th place finish at Euros in Moscow (154.58 new ISU PB in his FS). His ISU PB total is 228.97 at 2016 CS Warsaw Cup.

Sad for Majorov

Then the logic is that Anita Ostlund will suffer the same, she did not do any favours bombing the free skate at europeans

@Veronica posted this "future criteria" in this thread back on Oct. 3rd so perhaps Ostlund (or Algotsson who won the Olympic berth & silver medal at Nebelhorn Trophy) may still be considered by the Swedish Olympic Committee?
According to SOKs website there are two different criteria too qualify, the basic criteria and the future criteria.
From what I read the basic criteria is that the skater must prove that they are capable of finishing 8th at the Olympics.
If I understand it correctly, the future criteria says that a skater who doesnt fulfill the basic criteria can go as a learning experience if they:
1. Never have been to the Olympics before
2. Has shown potential to reach high results at a future Olympics.
3. Has shown that they still can perform well.

As none of the ladies have been to the Olympics they might fulfill the future criteria depending on how point 2 and 3 are judged.
Anita Ostlund, about to be 17 (born in Ukraine): http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00014929.htm
Matilda Algotsson, 19: http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00014672.htm

Article in Swedish: https://www.eurosport.se/konstaknin...ita-ostlund-narmare-os_sto6493124/story.shtml

Google translated excerpt:
At the EM in Moscow, Matilda Algotsson failed, who missed the final after two cases in the beginning of his short program. The better went for the 16-year-old giant talent Anita Östlund from Gråbo outside Gothenburg, with the score 56.04 personal record in the card game, and went to the final in the top team in his championship debut.

However, this weekend's free final program was not as good. Perhaps it was the seriousness of the moment that caught her first big final, and after an initial fall at the first jump, she finally finished in 17th place.

All in all, an impressive championship debut, and the question is now whether SOK can resist rewarding a 16-year-old who puts personal record in his EM debut with an Olympic venue.

Another Swedish article: https://www.svt.se/sport/konstakning/svt-experten-vill-se-ostlund-i-os/
"She took a sixth place in the card game at the EM, and has shown that she belongs at that level. She is a new star shot, says Lotta Falkenbäck to SVT Sport.

I'm happy for Östlund because at least they are looking to the future. They saw some reason there--but why does Majorov have to achieve a score equal to the European bronze medalist this year? I'll look forward to Michael Christian Martinez but this is such a silly decision.

May 22 news item on the Swedish fed. website (Google translated):
ISU, together with Finnish FFSA Association, organizes the Olympic Development Project, a new four-year project for singles and ice dances for skiers and coaches. The project aims, among other things, to understand and develop Nordic figure skating to meet the Olympic requirements and develop next-generation coaches and strengthen their skills for the next OS.
The first seminar will be held 21-26 May 2018 in Vierumäki, Finland, and the following skaters and trainers from Sweden are invited to participate
(list is here): http://www.svenskkonstakning.se/Nyhetsartiklar/ISUOlympicDevelopmentProject/

Info about this project originally was posted in the Finnish skating news thread here: https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/threads/finnish-skating-news-2017-18.101732/page-4#post-5328716

This April 20 news item says Anna Pettersson & TJ Carey, 9th in Novice Dance at 2018 U.S. Nationals, will represent Sweden as a junior team starting in the 2018-19 season. In April, they participated in the 10th ISU ice dance development training seminar in Oberstdorf GER: http://www.svenskkonstakning.se/Nyh...nsparpaplatsiobersdorfpaisudevelopmentproject

Btw. does anyone know what happened to Matilda Algotsson? Is she still skating?

She is still skating. There is an article about her in a Stockholm morning paper today. There is no point providing a link because it's behind a paywall but says she is training in Stockholm five days a week and wants to improve her skating. She will go to training camps this summer, first to Switzerland and then to the US (Chicago) and will present her new programmes at a training camp in Sweden in August. She says that her role models are Kaetlyn Osmond and Ashley Wagner because "they are mature skaters with a personal style on the ice".

Thanks for the update, I always had a soft spot for Alexander, I hope he'll find the sponsors and gets his farewell season.

Btw. does anyone know what happened to Matilda Algotsson? Is she still skating?

Yes, but she has moved back to Stockholm. She didn't felt comfortable in Skövde since it just a small town compared to Stockholm. She has 3 summer camps coming up and is working on 3-3s. Source today's paper version of Dagens nyheter.
It's her 20th birthday today and it's an article in the family part DN gratulerar.

Camilla Gjersem is making her season debut in a one of the Norwegian cup competitions this weekend. Unfortunately I haven't been able to attend (to much life outside skating....) (who am I fooling?) She wanted a competition under her belt before Finlandia next week. Go Camilla!

Camilla is studying law, but is taking a break from school this season to focus entirely on figure skating. She says it's been hard to juggle those too, and she's looking forward to only have one focus. Her main goal is to make it to worlds in Japan. (Source is Camilla herself, she coached my adult group at summer camp, and she's coaching us off ice once a week this fall. Talk about inspiring!)
