Team Spinners ...

If the Olympic teams were being purely picked by the quality of a skater's spins, who would make the team?

Yes I know it's silly but whatever.

Men's: Jason, Keegan, Deniss

Women's: Satoko, Bradie, actually I feel like a lot of the Eteri group spin well? (or maybe I just don't pay attention to their spins that well haha)

Pairs: The Gribbles...really theirs are the only ones I remember

Trusova and Schcerbakova don't really. They;re not bad but nothing special. Aliona and Kamila do spin well. I think Alysa Liu has beautiful spins.

Nathan wouldn't make the team either. His spins are okay but nothing spectacular.

Who among the US men would beat him out? I agree on Jason but I'm not sure any of the other US men are necessarily better spinners than Nathan.

Scott Davis, Lucinda Ruh, if we are considering past skaters, and of course Denise Biellman.

Current ones-Valieva, Sinitsyna, Kostornaia, Karen Chen

If you add in former skaters, I’d say Patrick Chan. His camel spins, especially, were great.

I don’t know if he’s been mentioned, but Yuzuru Hanyu also has good spins.

Jeff Buttle was a fantastic spinner (when he was against Lambiel, I always thought that though Lambiel's spins were faster, Jeff's were more aesthetically pleasing).

For the current crop, definitely Keegan. I find him like Lambiel though - very fast spins, though I don't always love his positions (especially the hunched back sit spin). Jason Brown as well.

Karen Chen is an excellent classical spinner, but she tends to lose a level on 1-2 spins in a competition, which confuses me because she's capable of getting all level 4s on them and has done so. Needlessly losing spin levels at 2021 Nationals is what caused her to win bronze instead of silver.

The US women's team would be Alysa, Mariah and Karen. All wonderful spinners.

The US men's team would be led by Jason by far, but sure about the others...

If we can grab from both the past and the current day, Rohene Ward was always a fantastic spinner. Plus a team that included both Jason and Rohene would be fun to watch (and a social media opportunity).
