I see that both Yanhao Li und Rio Nakata are back to the JGP. Are both too young for Seniors and going for an Olympic spot? For Nakata it might not be feasible and Yanhao Li probably cannot because no spot for a qualifier was won at previous Worlds? If that is so that is a huge oversight in the system for small countries with only a few skaters who then come "of age" in the Olympic season.

I'm pretty sure both of them are too young for seniors. At the Junior Worlds press conference, Rio and Minkyu Seo mentioned that they would still be juniors this coming season, while Adam Hagara is now moving up to seniors.

Yes, they are both still too young for seniors.

I don't see how the current qualification system is an oversight to skaters from small feds. If Li was senior-eligible then he's already demonstrated he is more than capable of being competitive with the senior men who are likely to be competing at the OQE.
Going off of last season's SB scores, with Li having one less jumping pass in the FS than senior men, here's where he would rank against the men/countries who will have skaters at the OQE:

1) Minkyu Seo 241.45 (he's also not age-eligible yet, but for the purposes of this exercise, let's pretend he is)
2) Luc Economides 236.87
3) Yanhao Li 230.09
4) Genrikh Gartung 218.94
5) Ivan Shmuratko 218.19

**Petr Gumennik will also be there and he's likely to score at least as well as the Seo, Economides & Li. He's a solid skater who I think most would expect should easily earn one of the 5 available spots if he was old enough to compete.

Yes, but he would not be able then to get a spot at the qualifier, would he? I thought only Nations that placed high enough at Worlds can send so to the qualifier event?
The rules change so often, I might be wrong about that. Then I would withdraw that point.

No. It’s any country that does not yet have a skater qualified, or a country that is able to add potential additional spots based on what their skaters did at the previous Worlds.

Ah then I had it mixed up with the potential extra spots. Thanks.

No. It works for me.

Same for me from the first result page linked, but if I use the links @Karen-W posted I can get to a page that works.

I had that issue in the middle of the night when the link was first posted, but then when I refreshed the page earlier today, I saw the time schedule links were available & everything worked at that point.

This is so bizarre. I went to the ISU event page and clicked on the link to the detailed results and I can see all the start orders. But the link from post #15 in this thread (where the URL is the same) I get those weird error messages.

The link currently in Post #15 works just fine for me.
I think there was a problem earlier today.

We have the Ted & Mark team back for another season - Ted will be on site for each of the events with Mark alternating between on-site and in his "home studio" and they will be doing the Olympic Qualifying event together too.

Thanks to my :cat: for making sure I was awake by 4 a.m.!

I'll get the Individual discipline threads going!

Barton is going on and on and on about being able to hear the technical panel, and only slowly, but seemingly begrudgingly, is telling us what they're saying, while mostly telling us how interesting and fascinating it is, and how professional they are, so I guess we're supposed to believe that anything they call is correct all of the time. He also started to interrupt Hanretty during the play-by-play to say that something was interesting on the headset, but giving us little insight that we couldn't get from the tracker. Shoot me now.

He keeps asking if we'd be interested in being given the option to listen. I mean, is that a real question? Like hell, yeah? Like how much? Like where do we sign up?

At one point during one of yesterday's streams, he brought up what I'd been thinking about since they announced that they were given access: in Vancouver, you could buy a little one-eared in-rink transmitter*, and two guys, one American, one Canadian would shadow call what they were seeing, with all of the caveats that they had a different perspective. It was tied for the best skating experience I've ever had (along with Warsaw Euros), even better than seeing Buttle and Delobel/Schoenfelder get their Worlds titles.

I may have been hallucinating, but I though Barton said he was one of those guys. I dropped my knitting :drama: Did anyone else hear that? He was so good in that role.

ETA: I forgot the *. The other great thing about the transmitter is that it was good for Rock Radio, the bilingual commentary at the Curling venue.

I didn't think it was Barton. I remember Jamie McGrigor as one of the voices. I agree, it was both fascinating and informative, and I've often wished I could listen to something similar. What Ted and Mark were talking about would be even better, because the 2 callers we heard would/could only call the need for review of an element, vs actually hearing the discussion and resolution after the review.

I also agree, @kwanfan1818, that Ted was going on about it too much - Mark handled it much better and just gave snippets about why some of the calls were made, which was interesting.
