Tarakanova participated recently in Mordovia Cup. The event received some press coverage and Tarakanova’s mother gave an interview explaining the reason why Nastya is not in Eteri’s group but in Pluschenko’s. (not what one expects… 
).

Mother: “There are a lot of rumors (talks) floating on social media why Nastya left/switched from Tutberidze. The truth is (in reality) there was no switch (it was not about leaving Tutberidze specifically). My child on her own was going through “mental tough times” (puberty issues?) and she simply decided at that point she does not want to be a figure skater any longer. So … most of this summer she spent at home, just sitting around for 2 months.
So.. then one day her childhood coach from the old rink, Krimova, Irina Mikhailovna, came to visit us at home. She just took Nastya by her hand and pulled her into the nearest rink, just took her and made her skate, at the rink.. We were not planning to do any skating this season, had no plans. But seems that Nastya pulled herself together, and so that’s how it is now..
There are absolutely no anger/conflicts between us (our family) and Tutberidze’s team (all those coaches). I have very good feelings about all those coaches, they are all professionals, treated us well, Tutberidze has a great team. There is no doubt about it ... Everything is quite good inside that team, all is good. I have absolutely no complaints about Eteri Georgievna, or any team member, not at all…
(Re Plushenko) Evgeniy Viktorovich takes good care of every student, works (individually) with every skater, when he is in, but unfortunately he is not in that often, he travels a lot, to shows and other events.
I never watch my daughter skate live, not since she was a little girl. Too worried when she skates. Just can’t handle it, and don’t want to complicate .. Later I watch it on video. We don’t discuss the marks (judging), different competitions have different judges and circumstances, one can’t compare the marks between different competitions.”
The event results: Tarakanova 1st, Tarusina 2nd (6+ point difference).
