Two notable skaters who competed at senior Nationals at 12 are Michelle Kwan and Beatrisa Liang. They made the telecast in their senior debut. Alysa Liu not only will make the telecast, but she is probably a legitimate contender for the title.
No matter how good Lui is it's not a good look when a 12 year old wins a National title in a big skating country like the US. Remember Adelina winning Russian Nationals at 12? Yes she was hugely talented but it also showed how bad Russian ladies were a decade ago. 2008 had a 14 year old champion and a podium of girls 16 and under at US Nationals mostly because after Kwan and Sasha retired their was nothing left in Seniors especially after Meissner lost her ability to land jumps. I see Bradie being hard to beat in the US if she lands her jumps and it sounds like she also looks more mature then just a few months ago on the ice. She might not dazzle people but she keeps improving from year to year which too many talented US ladies in the last decade didn't do.
