I feel like Caleb needs another JGP year, as he was only just getting started. Patrick is a year older and started skating much younger with a skater parent -- he could really go either way. He probably didn't need to stick around as a domestic junior last year, so, not sure if he'll do the same for his last year of international junior eligibility to try and snag some international hardware to go with his junior U.S. title. For the sake of this poll, I'm gonig to assume he's doing one more year on the JGP circuit. It's too bad that JGP and GP are mutually exclusive series. It'd be nice if they allowed the extra home host spot to bypass that rule.
To me it feels like Daniel and Lucius deserve it the most...
Daniel sort of sputtered though his three Challenger Series events, but really kicked it into a higher gear for sectionals and nats and two post-Nats Senior B events. It feels like he realized that he needs to pick up the pace if he wants to fill the void in the U.S. ranks left from post-quad retirements. I think he really needs a top 5 finish at Cranberry Cup to secure it. So, I guess he's a bit of a coin toss at the moment but a strong contender.
Lucius doesn't excite me too much (despite his decent scores). I think part of it might be that he seems to still be fighting to get used to his height which is something he'll hopefully overcome. He certainly brought home some decent hardware last year on the JGP circuit.
Regardless, those are my two choices for the single home rule entry: Lucius and Daniel. Perhaps it comes down to whoever places highest at Cranberry Cup in August.
As for Liam, he did beat the both of them last year at Nats, but, he's past the poit of being gifted the extra home spot and needs to earn GP spots on his own. That home spot is 100% for highlighting up and comers in my opinion.
