Russian figure skating news in 2026

Valieva's 3A is fine. One more innovation from Russians is they cancelled the archaic ISU rule of SP in Women with no quads. They allowed them for Channel One Cup the same as for Men. ISU is behind now.

The rule is not archaic. There are very few women in the world capable of landing a quad and the number of senior women even attempting one can be counted on one hand. Unless & until quads become as prevalent in the women's FS as they were in the Men's FS when the no quads in the SP rule was dropped for the Men then there is zero need to drop the no quads in the SP rule for the Women.

Nothing to count. Only Sumiyoshi landed an underrotated quad that wasn't called. But that's an ISU problem that quads are being landed not on their events. Russians can afford to have quads in Women SP. They are ahead of ISU.

Russian Cup Final for both juniors(March, 4-6) and seniors (March, 6-9) is happening this weekend

Juniors entries/results page

Sofia Dzepka is leading in ladies after SP and is very lovely to watch

Pete Gumennik is in the seniors entries lists, Adelia Petrosian will skip this event

That was not a skate but a performance from Sofia Dzepka, thanks for posting.

At Channel One Cup Zakharova once again proved wrong a losers' myth that only flat-chested teens, either Asian or doped Russian, can jump quads and post-puberty women cannot land them. Here she is. A gorgeous Russian 18yo blonde, with breast, in an Oscar after party dress lands a beautiful 4T http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNnuAm8vfrE Petrosyan landed 4Tq in SP and for now she is the only woman who did it. But Men was the most exciting part, no surprise here. Semenenko did LP with no solo triple or 3-3 combo. All were solo quads/3A or in combo/seq. Something that only Malinin and Chen could do. In jumping battle Mozalev revived 4F, Dikidzhi landed 4T and 4Loop that he doesn't do in competitions and Danielian learned 4F overnight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Es93MZWwRi4 . Current Russian Men is the most exciting competition ever existed. Ironically thanks to banning they compete not against ISU quota guys but against each other, i.e. against equal. Russian National was insane battle in SP https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbSDkIjXeFA and FS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQFQ76d5jQ4 After that watching disaster Men Olympics was like drinking some brew after cognac or eating Mac burger after Kobe beef.

ISU always whine that there are not many medals in figure skating in Olympics and they can't come up with what to do. Here it is. Again thanks to banning Russians invented absolutely new tournaments- Jumping Championship, when you are glued to the screen. The last one was won by a pupil of Mishin and pupils of his pupils- Plushenko and Tataurov https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qd2ohTctI3w Another one is so-called show program tournament. Excellent for those who are not much of a jumper and who wants to be creative. The last winner was Mark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNjwuwypjYw This year the event will be in two weeks.
ISU is behind of all inventions.
