Aw, I loved that Nicole Scherzinger gave a shout out to Sofia Samodelkina for skating to Sunset Blvd. In an age with all the rights complications (and dumb comments like that random dude who did Amber's music) it's nice to see artists appreciating skaters' use of their music (like Madonna did...
Dang that was a great event. Iida Karhunen with her 16th place 192.79 would have gotten 2nd at Europeans lol
What is the thread title a reference to? I LOVED cheated rivalry for the short 😂
Not much rhyme or reason to these rotation calls. It seems they wanted to placate people by mostly sticking to q's which isn't fair for some skaters who were right on the edge and got q's when some others' jumps were < or maybe even << and got q's as well.
My top 6 would have been (1) Ami (2)...
The Japanese were breathtaking - that is an OLYMPIC performance. Skating with so much attack, freedom and passion. Perhaps that botched lift in the short was a blessing in disguise.
The Georgians are so solid and their elements are spectacular (except for his patchy footwork on the lifts)...
Germans were spot on - well deserved score, this program shows off their strengths so brilliantly.
Georgians - steady and (mostly) solid as ever.
Lia/Trennt - they're a little white on rice for me but they were very solid here and looked a lot faster and more powerful than the Hungarians...

I randomly just watched her documentary and am so happy they made it. I competed at the same Junior Olympics with her in 1997 (!!!) so the fact that Deanna's at the Olympics almost 30 (!!!) years later makes me thrilled beyond belief. I hope they have a great time and skate their hearts out. I...
They are truly a class act and have been such a gift to this sport (which after tonight, frankly doesn't deserve them). In my heart they are two time Olympic champions.
