2021-22 ISU Grand Prix assignments announced

It would be bad luck indeed (but not unprecedented) if Paniot was still dealing with boot issues; breaking them in, pain from new boots, etc.

ISU World Standings Have Been Updated

Perhaps there is a formula that would include seasons best score AND event placements that might give us something closer to reality in terms of the rankings. Seasons best could perhaps be weighted by how recent it was? Still would be very flawed but might be better than what we have.

Pandora papers leak exposes offshore accounts including Elvis Stojko

I was an effeminate little boy and faced my share of teasing and taunts because if it (some from my family.) Using the word "bullying" might be a bit of a stretch, but there were many nights I went to bed in tears. I earnestly felt, in some moments, like my lack of "manliness" would mean I would...

USFS' Athlete Selection Procedures for 2022 Olympics

Until someone other than Jason, Nathan and Vincent is regularly scoring in the upper 200's, this is really all a moot point anyway.

USFS' Athlete Selection Procedures for 2022 Olympics

I'm headed to Skate America in a few weeks where I would hope Vincent will score more than 70 for the competition. I'll see it with my own eyes and keep y'all posted.

USFS' Athlete Selection Procedures for 2022 Olympics

Realistically, I highly doubt that they will hold tightly to exact numbers around the time of the decision. More likely, a handful of points shy of some mark will be viewed as ~equal to it. They will crunch the numbers as they see fit to get the result they think is correct.

    U.S. Men 2021-22 season news & updates

I'm glad to have a skater like Vincent to cheer for. He goes out and attempts the hardest content of any skater.... every single time. Hardly ever pops a jump or simplifies an element for safety. Rarely makes excuses or blames others. And with big risks can come big wins... or big falls... and...

Agreed. It's now just a flatline.

I think it's premature to assume Paniot will be able to execute at the level he did at Nats consistently. (I agree he was great at Nats.)

Agreed. First option is a healthy/prepared Zhou. Don't send him if unready. (I wonder if he will keep his programs, since he didn't really get to show them?)

Sure... but why not at least give him the chance? Passing him over is probably also not the narrative he'd want.

    U.S. Men 2020-21 season news & updates

Given the rather shallow field competing for 7 spots, I think the US likely has 5 or six guys who can easily finish in the top 7 even on a bad day. But I say, if healthy, send Zhou. Zhou almost qualified for the LP even with his complete meltdown, and beat some of the guys who he'd be going...

    U.S. Ladies [#30]: Cover Girls

I think even on a bad day, any of Bell, Liu, Glenn, or Shin would easily end up in the top six, given the competition. Send whoever is the most prepared after monitoring this summer. I suppose Bell and Liu are the most likely to be given generous PCS scores by international judges. Glenn is the...
