Even though i am currently dealing with health issues, i don't have to look very far to see people who have it far much worse than me. It makes me realize I am really fortunate.

Rain is coming to the area for this weekend. It will help control the fires, however 1-3” of rain is possible which will mix with the ash and debris to form lahar like mudslides.

The NWS has issued a PDS, a particularly dangerous situation for late tonight through Wednesday. This is the highest warning level they issue and it is a repeat of the same warning they issued last Tuesday.

The next big problem will be rains. LA is entering their rainy season. If the rains come in reasonable amounts, flooding and landslides will be kept at a minimum. If there is an atmospheric river with very heavy rains, the rain will mix with the ash and debris and form lahars that will flow...
Looks like the threat of the Santa Anas will start tonight and continue through Wednesday.. Gusts to 70 mph in some areas possible. Hopefully a break comes after Wednesday……

On the way home from the casino, I was listening to the news on the radio.
They were talking to an official with Cal fire and they were talking about reservoirs and lack of water.
He brought up that northern CA is at greater risk from future fires because they removed 4 dams that held back...
Strong winds tonight should die down later tomorrow. Another round develops Tuesday night into Wednesday.
After that, there maybe a chance of showers moving in as the winds come off the Pacific.
There are documented cases where broken glass can start a fire in direct sun. If the glass is the right shape and right angle to the sun, it can act as a magnifying glass and start a fire in a patch of dry glass.
The next big nightmare is going to be how do they dispose of all the debris? For Lahaina they created a huge burial pit. The debris from the LA fires is probably many times what was the Lahaina debris.
There will be hundreds of discussions as to what lead up to this point.
All that doesn’t matter since are now at that point.
The big question is after all the fires are extinguished, where do we go from here?
This is what happened in Lahaina where there was an actual hurricane moving south of Maui that sent wind gusts to near hurricane force to Lahaina. This turned the fire into a blowtorch which devastated Lahaina.
