Relax, guys. I didn't say Ashley was going to knock Karen out. Only that if Karen gets the flu or slips on the ice or something, there are those who will blame Ashley. There was already some speculation (here?) that someone would get a mysterious case of food poisoning before the competition.

And I sincerely hope nothing happens to Karen Chen between now and the Games - because we know who the instant suspect would be! :)

I'm old enough to remember when they posted female gymnasts' height AND WEIGHT on the TV screen during competitions. Height doesn't seem like such a big deal.

You know what I'm hoping it means? That she's getting some help from a professional financial planner, investing her earnings wisely, sets herself up for life, and gives the skating community a giant middle finger and says, "Later, SUCKERS!!!!" I'm not holding my breath, but it would be nice.

I wouldn't say Fratianne or Sumners came out OK, at least not for many years. Both have admitted to not being able even to discuss their narrow losses for years. Fratianne wrapped her silver medal in toilet paper and put it under her bed. Sumners and her mother never(?) did discuss her...
