Lutz as a second (or third) part in a combo...

Yeah. Landing on the "wrong" foot can't feel natural, and looks "weird."

From Russia with Love [#30]: If There Are Test Skate Videos, It Must Be Fall 2018

True. Honestly, if I paid that kind of money and faced the needle, I'd want a better result than what she got.

Botox, it runs in the family! :P To be fair, I have had relatives look that young at 44 without botox.

    Can Medvedeva get two spots?

The Knierims have switched coaches from Sappenfield to ... Aljona Savchenko!

*sings* Bye, bye, bye....Delilah! I think this is a good move for them -- and Aliona has worked miracles in the past with Bruno. If anyone can get the Knierims landing jumps, well, she can...

UPDATED/CONFIRMED: Evgenia Medvedeva leaving Tutberidze for Orser

It's especially funny to throw that one on me -- I'm married to an Asian, for the love of Pete!

UPDATED/CONFIRMED: Evgenia Medvedeva leaving Tutberidze for Orser

Nothing to do with her being Asian. There are Asian skaters I LOVE (Sato, Yamaguchi, Nathan) and Asian skaters I don't enjoy watching (Kwan, Kim, Arakawa). There are other Asian skaters I like sometimes and not others (Mirai -- found her more expressive and musical when she was younger, but...

UPDATED/CONFIRMED: Evgenia Medvedeva leaving Tutberidze for Orser

The only thing that concerns me is his saying they'd like to keep the same choreographic approach they used with Yuna Kim. I was never a fan of Yuna's programs, I must admit (shocker, I know)... Zhenya also has more personality and depth of expression on the ice than Yuna does/did, so I hope...

UPDATED/CONFIRMED: Evgenia Medvedeva leaving Tutberidze for Orser

I'm sure she went about it the right way and got permission and all that. Rus Fed wants medals, first and foremost. If she skates well under Orser, they won't lowball her. Especially now that they've seen that Alina is capable of having a meltdown skate...

UPDATED/CONFIRMED: Evgenia Medvedeva leaving Tutberidze for Orser

I like Averbukh better than Nichol or Wilson's recent work. Neutral on Buttle. But I don't tend to like Nichol's work for Ladies. I realize, now, as an adult skating fan, that I didn't dislike Kwan. Not really. I disliked Lori's work.

UPDATED/CONFIRMED: Evgenia Medvedeva leaving Tutberidze for Orser

I hope not that extreme. Makes the arm movements look less graceful, IMO.

ISU rules changes proposals & reaction

Zagitova was in contention after the short. Just had a terrible, awful, really bad day. It happens. *shrug* All the pressure was bound to hit her eventually, and it just sucks that it hit her all at once. She showed in the gala that her jumps are still there, 3/3s and all. She'll be back...

U.S. Ladies [#22]: No More Carrots!

With the exception of Witt, who at least moved fairly well, the rest don't do a thing for me. Well, Kostner has good edges, if I ignore the rest, but I'm bad at that... I don't think there's only one package that is elegant, but a graceless skater like Harding or Bonaly doesn't seem like a...

U.S. Ladies [#22]: No More Carrots!

Not sure where you would get that idea. The entire Olympic podium has elements of "that concept" in their skating, though Osmond probably the less so of the three. A champion should be graceful and elegant, and often those who can't pull it off (like Zagitova) are still packaged to give the...
