I met both Sean and his brother at their rinks who are very genuine, warm and inspiring people. Their dad, Don, organized the GF club competition that we were a part of and helped skaters with practice ice/schedules etc. I am glad to help the family to get closer to their goal and wish Helene...
Sounds like a strategic thing to do. It was a good program and reusing it would allow her to spend more training time for improving jumps, rather than learning new choreography which can consume a large amount of time from original choreography to putting jumps in and getting used to it.
Agree - and they shouldn't be. He did amazing as a first timer and a 17-year old. Especially considering him skating right after Yuzu who pulled off a season best (didn't he skate right after Yuzu at GPF? I couldn't help but wondering if he would have done better if he didn't skate right...
Wow! From the article, it looks like the first 4T was an improvise to replace a planned 4Lz. I have not watched the video, but it was just amazing that he did that on the fly and landed. That must be so hard, as the steps and entrance of Toe are different...especially if he hadn't practiced...
For my edification, what was the seven spots that you were referring to? Is it that USA has a total of 7 spots for the 6 JGP events for 2018 season? Which means USFSA is able to send 2 ladies to one of 6 JGPs, 1 skater goes to the remaining 5 JGPs? Thank you.
Wow, impressed by the three wishes that Alex named: a pill to cure cancer, becoming neurosurgeon, and for his family to achieve their dreams especially his sisters
I respect Kosner's come back immensely, but agreed that this sport is so hard on the body. With the intensity of training all year round, I just hope that she doesn't get injured. I guess doing shows is perhaps not as gratifying
Hadn't realized Philadelphia Summer Championships would be deemed an international event. As you mentioned the entry is open to any one with an active club membership just like any other club competitions. Interesting to know
Regarding Karen Chen's 3-3, calling a jump UR or not is obviously not a pure science. For someone who tends to UR, it is more likely she is on the radar for the technical panel to review the jump and I assume a slight UR would get magnified under the slo-mo
IMO Karen is truly a performer and would agree your comment about judges don't typically "dump her" on PCS. If both Karen and Mirai didn't skate clean, it seems that it is more likely that judges would "dump" Mirai more
I would love to see a strong come back of Vivian Le. Not sure about her current status but she was awesome when she competed her 2 JGPs in 2015. Though we have some young talents lining up nicely, I agree that at the moment Russian and Japan's talent pools are much, much deeper. It will...
