Volosozhar and Trankov were enjoyable for me when with other partners, but their pairing? I didn't like one single program of theirs, and I kept waiting for there to be something that changed that... but it never happened.
I don't know if anyone is interested, but what about a "judges at a bar in a world with no *********" chat instead of watching all four hours (again, for those who have judged)? Even people who didn't judge can join. The purpose could be to share reactions, comments, and questions + justify...
*And yes, I know there will be a watch party, but my judging is fresh NOW ;-).
-I just judged the SP and have the following to share:
It's a very "busy" experience to enter all the GOEs and thoughtfully do PCS. Why not have 5 judges doing tech stuff and 5 doing PCS or something...
I can easily list skaters I don't love-can't we all?-but I highly regard most of them anyway.
Skaters I am not in love with:
Todd Eldredge (great triple axel, but the way he moved his head and shoulders + his concept of artistry was so wooden, unnatural, ineffective)
Thanks to Erin's work in uploading many videos, I've been able to see certain skating competitions for the first time. The 2011 Canadians short programs start with Charles Dion, and he's wearing glasses. I can't recall seeing that before. Have other skaters competed with glasses? Have you? Is...
I'll try my hand. Not thrilled with the event selection, as I have read enough rehashing of Evan vs. Evgeni, but they weren't the only skaters.
Whoever helps organize, please include the judging guidelines for that particular year. Can't remember if IJS has changed PCS or TES since then.
Jeschke, some recent men's event might be interesting. I'd be curious to see how my marks would come out and how others would rate the skaters. Maybe a recent Euros or Worlds? Or even a Grand Prix event? Something between 2014-2018?
I didn't remember her 1998 Worlds SP from when I had seen it that year, but I was really impressed watching it yesterday. I agree with your comment because I think it's the best presentation I ever saw her put out.
To go back to the presentation mark requirements, I feel Tonia conformed to the...
For anyone interested, here was my take (the first time I've ever done something like this):
1. Kwan 5.7/5.8 (11.5)
2. Malinina 5.8/5.6 (11.4)
3. Rechnio 5.7/5.7 (11.4)
4. Hubert 5.6/5.6 (11.2)
5. Kwiatkowski 5.4/5.8 (11.2)
6. Butyrskaya 5.3/5.9 (11.2) [my one case of cheating ;) I had her at...
I have to repeat skateboy's question for all, as it's been so long: in 1998 in a short program, which mark was the tiebreaker, the first or the second?
Also, I thought judges couldn't give identical marks for skaters as skateboy did (ex. Kwiatkowski and Slutskaya both at 5.2, 5.6). Could they...
