All of these positive reviews pushed me to give in and buy tickets. It was a bit of a splurge, but I bought one of the on-ice seats. I figure it's my salve to get over the fact I'm unlikely to be able to travel to any skating events in the near future.

I need Ashley to do an exhibition skate to Gorgeous by Taylor Swift, only so she can wink saucily when the line "I'm so furrrious" is sung. And I'm not ready for her to retire. At least it was nice to see her on the ice for a bit on her instagram story yesterday.

Just because the placements were close to what we expected, doesn't mean we can't be disappointed there wasn't a single clean skate in the individuals. It leaves a bad perception. Although, perhaps that is good because it might make officials think differently about how they approach selection...

I finally saw this yesterday and really enjoyed it. It was a trip seeing the non-competition footage from '88 and the newer interviews with the skaters and coaches were quite fascinating.

Exactly. They are telling a story not making a film on the history of figure skating. Extraneous names and personalities would have just distracted the audience. Even NBC, in its documentary Calgary '88, barely mentioned any skaters other than the four they focused on. It's just good story telling.
