Emmi Peltonen has announced her retirement on IG.
What a wonderful skater she was / is!! She probably never realized her true potential, but am glad that she went to the Olympics (though I don't recall if it was a controversial decision to send her instead of Viveca Lindfors at the time). She...
Seems there’s no thread in the kiss n cry section :)
So who will be sent to Euros?
I liked Linnea Ceder when she competed a few seasons ago. Quite elegant. Olivia Lisko seemed ok too from Finlandia trophy (lots of energy).
Amongst the men, will they send Dr. V? I am surprised that Doctor is...
Yes and who can forget Poykio, Kettunen, and Saarinen much later … all such great and elegant skaters. Worthy of mention: Drei for her longevity and improved and mature skating towards the end of her career, and Viveca Lindfors for winning a Euros bronze at a time when Russian girls became so...
Wonder if Emmi would be sent to Worlds after Peltonen’s disastrous free programme ?
Also, I wonder if we would get to see Dr. V one more time (who miraculously got his World FP TES in the Denis Ten Memorial last year). The new guy ain’t bad but doesn’t seem to have the minimums ?
I recall watching a video of their training in their early days together. Kana came across as a very supportive partner, and it’s so wonderful to see daisuke’s growth as an ice dancer. Wish them both the very best.
Like many, I wasn't all that excited when Alysa burst onto the scene ... as many aspects of her skating weren't developed
This season, there was this turning point during one of the early season competitions (Lombardia?) when I was like ... wow, this girl is now getting more polished
Then when...
So sad. Ivan schmurato is a unique skater and his olympik performances, while not perfekt, left a deep impression (one could tell that he had to endure a lot .. having tested positive etc). I bet he couldn’t imagine what would happen upon his return to Ukraine. I hope that we will see him skate...
Just to add to all of the above, I was traveling on my own to Russia back in 2002 and came across a show featuring Surya and others. At the end of the show I saw Surya in the car park and shouted something in French. She was surprised that I spoke French and we had a lovely conversation. There...
it is indeed v tough but when they look back I hope they will be proud of all that they have achieved.
Kudos to Minerva for showing what a supportive Partner she is ... I hope they can come back strong and deliver excellent results in the future!
