Russian figure skating news in 2024

Something weird is going on there, Morozov is/was on a trial as new main Boikova/Kozlovski coach in Tutberidze’s school. Alexei Tikhonov switched from Tutberidze to Navka’s new school, Trankov has never coached anyone permanently and is mostly doing TV work these days rather than actual...

    Eteri Tutberidze Method

No, the original article is from Russian magazine that is indeed named “Editorial Opinion”. I guess they just cut it from the “The editorial opinion may not reflect the views of the authors…” line. Tutberidze is on their July cover.

Russian figure skating news in 2024

Muravieva switched from Pluschenko to Mishin, whose students have been working with Benoit for a very long time. Even during the last few domestic seasons, he has at least worked with Semenenko (not sure if there were more).

It's from a 2024 Russian movie "Onegin" (adaptation of Pushkin's "Eugene Onegin") Here's Gumennik's Dune SP from the same competition Petr is also not always consistent, while he doesn't have big meltdowns, he sometimes struggles with underrotations. But he seems to have a good head and is...

The Dance Hall 12: Boston Tea Dance Party

I know this is a dance thread but I can’t just pass by.. I mean, I know that Russian skaters has been problematic for many reasons, but please avoid generalization, if possible. Bazin has always been a jerk, and not just about fellow skaters but his partners, former girlfriend, colleagues, and...

2024-25 Pairs General Discussion - Who Wants to Skate Forever (in Junior Pairs)?

Sikharulidze didn’t say anything about Akopova/Rakhmanin or Popov. That was Russian journalists interpreting his words and writing articles based on the fact that Zhilina did not get her release. Clearly, all cases were considered yesterday because it’s the only day of their joint gathering...

Russian Skaters Allowed to Compete as Neutrals (AIN) to Qualify for 2026 Winter Olympics

Yes, I am aware of this. Yet Valieva left team Tutberidze the moment her verdict was announced, so Petrosian has never trained on the same ice with her while Kamila was/is serving a period of ineligibility. I get that it's tricky, but I see the logic in here. As for supporting personnel, I doubt...

Russian Skaters Allowed to Compete as Neutrals (AIN) to Qualify for 2026 Winter Olympics

You keep forgetting that the ban and the neutral status have nothing to do with the doping and/or coaching abuse. Technically, Valieva stopped competing and training internally as soon as the latest CAS verdict was announced, so no issues here. Also, Valieva's ban ends this December, meaning...

Russian Skaters Allowed to Compete as Neutrals (AIN) to Qualify for 2026 Winter Olympics

Indeed. RIA confirmed that Boikova/Kozlovskii and Kaganovskaia/Nekrasov were submitted as subs, neither got a reply from ISU on their status. Which means that their cases were not even viewed, because the first options (Stepanova/Bukin and Mishina/Gallyamov) were not approved

Russian Skaters Allowed to Compete as Neutrals (AIN) to Qualify for 2026 Winter Olympics

Yes. Gummenik is probably the only Russian skater I personally wanted to see compete internationally, so I am kinda happy the way it all is now.
