Evening news said there was one controller in the tower that night covering both plane and helicopter traffic. I feel for him to. He's got the weight of all those lives on his mind.
In Halifax I listened to some of Toller Cranston's commentary, when I wasn't actually in the arena. Like Dick, Toller could be refreshingly outspoken. Oops! Changed the subject again.
The only thing the controller might have done differently is to make sure that he/she and the helicopter crew were talking about the same plane. Of course, at night, every plane looks the same.

In private, I'm not so sure he really believes that. He's just playing his game. It seems to be working. Look how much DEI dialog he's generated on this thread.
