Seeing Alysa completely nail it in person, the energy was unlike anything I've ever experienced. The crowd in general was absolutely amazing, and I loved how supportive they were of everyone. Shaidorov was also a special moment, and seeing Adam and Kevin have such great free skates.
I was just watching one of the news live feeds and they came through with a statement from US Figure Skating confirming that there were skaters and coaches on the flight. Also on NBCNews.
If you guys get to see Kurt Browning's call of Nathan's FS, you should try to watch it. He calls it one of the emotional Olympic comeback stories in history - no doubt reliving his own Olympic experience as he watched it. So, so proud of him. :cheer2::cheer2:
Nathan may be "what iffing" but it's hard to know if he had been higher in the SP, would he have been able to pull out a performance like that. What he did tonight though - he took back the story. The story isn't going to be about him choking, or bombing, etc. Sure, there will be some of those...
I do think there was a lot going on behind the scenes with Nathan this season - whether it was injuries or something else. Everything just felt a little askew. It’s a shame that his Olympics had to go like this, but I’m glad he has his family there to support him. Hopefully he can go out there...
Interestingly enough, as soon as he was done with his team SP - he was at the downstairs rink practicing again. I just hope he's not too rattled by today. I'd hate for it to define the rest of his Olympic experience.
