    Complete Figure Skating Steps/Turns Guide

Thank you so much! I'm actually not a skater at all, so I haven't taken any dance tests. I'm just a fan and it was a big goal of mine to make a steps/turns guide with examples from every entry edge since it's very hard to learn the difference between the steps/turns. Looking at ice dance...

The Shibutanis Thread 6: Paradise Found

Someone PM'd me asking if I could put my post about the Shibs' twizzles from the ice dance thread here, so it doesn't get lost so here you go. My personal favorite Shibs' twizzles are: https://youtu.be/28mF0RS6SsU?t=15 2014 Ondrej Nepela FD Crossing Pattern, Vertical Axis Maia: LFI 6...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

I don't think the love for Shibs' twizzles is an American commentators' thing, but something very universal. They have done some extremely difficult and well executed twizzles over the years. My personal favorites are: https://youtu.be/28mF0RS6SsU?t=15 2014 Ondrej Nepela FD Crossing Pattern...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

I see what Jean-Luc did as uncontrolled and a "stop on 2 knees" https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D2kpnioUcAAI-sw.jpg Also I think the panel has seen this free dance all season and also in practices, so they should know that the exit is different and this was a mistake. And to be quite honest, even...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

https://youtu.be/-MKtdS7XrQs Video of Hawayek/Baker’s FD is on YouTube now and it’s very interesting seeing the choreographic knee slide. I really am confused as to how this wasn’t counted as a fall for Jean Luc and possibly invalidated the choreographic element (for example at the Olympics when...

Weapo most likely won’t skip the GP series because the Skate Canada national team criteria says you must be assigned to a 2019 Grand Prix event. The criteria is here: https://twitter.com/canadianfsf/status/1095925785163116554

P/C changes in their RD midline step sequence were my favorite thing about thee RD. I loved the free leg work during the RBO-Mohawk (RBO to LFO)/LFO-Three Turn (LFO to LBI)/LBI-Three Turn (LBI to LFO) here...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

I/K skating was less open with Zhulin, but Morozov made their skating more open. I feel the same happened with Weapo. Under DSC they had more closed holds, while with Morozov their skating was more open. S/B in the RD I feel since they use paso doble theme instead of tango, Zhuk choreographed...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

Fabbri has very good skating skills. Good knees, good flow, good edge quality, good steps/turns, good spread eagles. I don’t understand what they are talking about. Pushing from the toe technique is for example something Davis and White used to do along with widestepping and running on the ice...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

It's very interesting that prior to the 2014-2015 season, to get a level 4 lift both partners had to be in a difficult position. Starting that season, only one partner had to be in a difficult position and you could still get level 4 using entry/exit features. That led to a lot of teams...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

Yes I think a big problem is that the committee aren't addressing the biggest problem with ice dance this season imo. How the difference in base value for each level is only 0.5 and how the +/-5 GOE scale makes it so that low level elements can easily outscore high level elements. Instead they...

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

The press conference said that a temporary deviation by the lifting partner reduces the level by 1. This basically means that now for example, H/D would have got a level 3 stationary lift at 4CC instead of base level, and still won gold instead of coming in 4th.

The Dance Hall 6: We're All Off Our Rockers 2018-2019

Sadly, G/F, G/P, C/B, Weapo did not give their best free dance performances today. G/F had a level 3 rotational lift and very awkward exit there. G/P and Weapo both had twizzle troubles. C/B were very slow in their FD and did not project to the crowd as well as they could have. I was really...
