Yes I think her short definitely deserved its placement. Her long program though, LOL!
It was pretty brilliant. It really highlighted her strengths, while masking her (many) weaknesses brilliantly. Very much enjoyed it. Cranston thought she might even deserve 2nd over Yamaguchi who did a...
Probably since she was atleast fun to watch (well atleast for some people). I could be misinterpreting but I don't think this thread is just about worst, but most forgettable, which is for sure Soldatova. I already adressed Cook, and someone skating to TITANIC and seeming enthused by it in the...
I honesty felt Lebedeva and Neske were a big underscored in free skating and Cook a bit overscored (maybe not the short but the long 100%) especialy in comparision. So I totally believe what you are saying, as that would give the most logical explanation to that happening.
Bobek deserves a mention simply since the judges were prepared to hand her the gold easily if she just stood up, and she managed to fall twice, get lost in the final seconds of her program, and only held on for even the bronze (she was 4th in the long program) due to her winning the short...
And even if Holly Cook were an option I would still pick Soldatova. Soldatova is probably the "better" skater, but this thread title is least memorable, not worst. Holly Cook who is someone who stopped mid program to pull a wedgie out on National TV at Nationals, does barrel rolls, and has...
Soldatova by far. There was nothing memorable about her skating at all. She also got super lucky Malinina stepped out of her combo in the short program, or 1 more judge did not place Malinina above Kwan in the long program, as either of those things would have led to Malinina winning silver...
They probably would have a shot at the team per say whether Chock & Bates continue or not. Since if Chock & Bates are still there, pretty much guaranteed there would be 3 spots for 2026, and if the 2nd US team is somehow so weak they can't manage 3 spots even with Chock & Bates, then the...
In that case could just swap her out for Hughes at the 2002 Olympics, and have Nikodinov as the shock SLC gold medalist as #3 US lady and transport Hughes to Nikodinov's spot sitting at home watching as #4 US lady. It is fantasy after all. ;)
Blumberg & Seibert deserved the silver in 84 IMO. And 2 judges in fact placed them 2nd. The Soviets had such entitlement when it comes to pairs and dance, that since it was obvious Torvill & Dean were winning for sure that year, I am sure they made arrangements they would get 2 medals as some...
Or the judges who said they didn't see Jamie's single axel (a wide open single that even a blind person could see) in the long program at the 2001 worlds. Where Sale & Pelletier made a major mistake in both programs and corruptly still won over a clean Elena & Anton, a superior team to begin...
The thing though is FP/M did not win the FD and thus gold medal at the 2001 worlds on the presentation score. Almost every judge they won was on the technical score and their technical scores were overall higher than A&P, who had atleast equally high presentation marks. Which shows a complete...
Oh Americans politik bigtime. Read Joe Jackson's book. He complains and moans about Russians or other countries politiking but boasts about him and other American judges/officials politiking, particularly at junior events. Although his talk is two speared, as he also praises in other...
