2021 World Team Trophy Ice dance RD & FD - Give My Regards to Broadway

Bummed for Hawayek/Baker. I loved their performance—such great edges and flow and passion throughout. Interesting to compare their free dance scores here (110.16) and at Worlds (113.43). Their PCS score was almost identical—50.82, 50.80. (Hmm.) Almost the whole difference was the base...

As the Page Turns (the Book Thread)

Well, I don’t remember very well, but I think it was the combination of her contempt for her intellectual husband and her vague interest in adventure/intrigue/mystery?, which seemed like it was inevitably going to lead her into the arms of a bold, tall-and-handsome buccaneer type. but...

As the Page Turns (the Book Thread)

I started reading the first Outlander book and was turned off by how the main character kept teasing her husband about, and making fun of, his nerdiness and intellectualism. If she didn’t like it, why did she marry him? I couldn’t get into her character & it seemed like it was about to go into...

YouGov poll: Ranking of U.S. States by Americans

I’m sorry, but this poll is dumb. There’s no criteria for these rankings. This is meaningless info.

The Medical Thread: Vaccine Search / Staying Healthy / Treatments Etc

I got my first shot of Pfizer today (was able to move up my original appt due to cancellations). I was pleasantly surprised because the actual shot barely hurt at all. I had prepared myself for a big painful jab, but it was more like a pinprick. no problem! I must say, the hospital system I go...

    2021-22 ISU Challenger Series announced

I think maybe they were trading which one was the sole pairs CS event in North America. That's probably what I was thinking of.

    Your Favorite Sandwiches (yum)

I'm not a big sandwich person. I don't like regular deli meat sandwiches much at all. An exception is BLTs. I do like a good BLT, especially when I'm out to eat (easier than making them at home). Other sandwiches that I like occasionally are grilled cheese (but not with American cheese), a...

    2021-22 ISU Challenger Series announced

Maybe they want to do a test run in Norwood before making it a Challenger event. The last few years, as I recall, it had been trading Challenger status with Autumn Classic. I'm a little surprised that they didn't make Autumn Classic one of the pairs events on this year's CS series.

As the Page Turns (the Book Thread)

So I recently read a book that meant a lot to me, or, maybe I should say, provoked a lot of thoughts and emotions on my end. The book is about the experience of French Canadian immigrants to the United States. It's called A Distinct Alien Race: The Untold Story of Franco-Americans, by David...

    Feral Cat Advice Needed

@Cachoo I might also recommend posting on Facebook about the love muffin. Someone you know might be interested in taking her and/or the kittens. From everything I have read and heard, there has been a big increase in pet adoptions during CV19, and some shelters are actually running low on...

    Netflix/Prime/Hulu/BritBox Binge Watching: ******** Edition

We just finished watching the first season of Ted Lasso on AppleTV. I had heard people raving about it and had no idea why. But it really is great, at least, we thought so. Funny, good-hearted, touching, and did I say funny?? 😆 A perfect way to get your mind off things.

Ganicheva & Letov are named the SC of Boston's high performance directors for the club's new facility in Norwood, Mass.

I'm just resurrecting this thread to post an interview I did with Olga Ganicheva: https://adivinesport.com/2021/04/12/getting-to-know-olga-ganicheva/ It's a relatively short interview, but Ganicheva talks about her background in Russia, how she and her husband Aleksey Letov started their...
