If you're going to give people a theme, don't rip their hearts out by shredding their choices to bits! Mid tempos would have increased the variety of programs and music. Even a drop to 90 bpm would have helped. It's just so ridiculously confining.

Their FD isn't new. They explored the concept before as a RD in 2015, when they also did a flamenco.

The judges and specialists tend to force them into these choices though. One dimension is just the exterior prejudice. If they don't believe you look the part, they will tank your scores, regardless of ability. So, it's a tough choice, creating memorable programs or winning medals.
