I'm thinking it's because Tomoki said he was retiring, and if he's stopped training they might still want 3 realistic reserves. Who knows what Jason, Torgy & Ilia are going to do.
My 73 year old mother was talking to me about Alysa & how much she enjoyed her skate, and said "I think I like her hair now". I joked that it's stockholm syndrome after listening to me talk about skating for so long, but I think it's just something about Alysa!
Would this discussion be better suited to a different thread? I choose not to go into PI because I use skating as an escape from the rest of the world. If this discussion keeps going, could someone tell me when it's safe to return to this thread?
If we’re going to re-litigate the 2022 Olympic team could we at least set up a new thread for it so those of us who don’t want to go through that miserable debate again can avoid it?
Really interesting breakdown. I found it very informative and appreciated the discussion at the end around the scoring system being an issue. It’s going to sound sappy, but it did help me process my frustration with the result, and I appreciated you taking the time to do it. Hope you’re enjoying...

Pairs is a very new phenomonon for Japan. Yuka Kavaguti went to Russia because she couldn't find a partner or good training conditions in Japan. Even now, they have 2 senior teams (who are great), but no real depth behind them. I think there's more potential depth in Dance right now in Japan...
Work is being a pain this week & not giving me much free time, but looking forward to watching this (probably not until Friday so I can give it enough attention).
