I skated for only one year at age 14 and worked my way up to a very bad sit spin and a very terrible and under-rotated loop jump. (if that counts as skating as a kid)
At 26 years old, I returned to figure skating in January 2017. I made sure to maintain my knowledge for the past 12 years by skating once a year, so I didn't have to start from the beginning again. I just picked up where I left off. In the first three months, I fixed my loop jump, and added flip and lutz jumps. In the next three months, I made my sit spin soooo much better and I added a decent camel spin, as well as some variations like pancake spin and camel-catch-foot spin.
My back sit spin and back camel spin are improving all the time. My axel is still a work-in-progress and missing half a rotation, but I haven't been working on it for that long yet.
I'm also finally going back and starting to focus on MIF and passing tests. I originally mainly focused on just jumps and spins since that's what interested me.
