The Dance Hall 12: Boston Tea Dance Party

I'm surprised people are surprised that Guillaume is dictating the style in the new partnership with Laurance. She is the stronger member of the partnership, and while she is a versatile performer and has amazing core strength that can allow them to do amazing lifts, he is very much not...

    2025 Grand Prix Assignments

I'd say I am somewhat of a dance fanatic, and I still mostly agree with this pragmatic analysis. G/F's material has never been stellar, and they miss a wow factor and charisma that other teams have. What worked for them was their technical abilities, but they struggled with this as well this...

    2025 Grand Prix Assignments

I think that might have been true earlier this quad but not last season, their skating (especially his) looked so labored and sloppy this season that I'd argue they didn't even deserve their 4th place finish. I wouldn't be surprised if he's struggling with some undisclosed injury.

    2025 Grand Prix Assignments

Another interesting dance observation - with L/LG and F/A each getting one assignment, I would assume Canada's TBD will go to the team who looks the best at high performance camp. L/LG got their choreography at IAMO, so I hope F/A will get more than the usual generic material they seem to be...

US Ice Dance 2024-25 News & Updates

Yes I do, I know it's not necessarily USFS who are orchestrating all of this and that NBC (or more likely, their agent) are a more likely candidate, but they are choosing to heavily promote it on their social media, and as of now, there doesn't seem to be similar opportunities for the other top...

US Ice Dance 2024-25 News & Updates

Seeing how USFS is heavily promoting the Shibutanis does not bode well for the rest of the US dance teams that are not Chock/Bates. It also gives a strong feeling of undeserved favoritism IMO. Both Carreira/Ponomarenko and Green/Parsons have consistently finished top 10 at worlds, even when...

    2025-26 Grand Prix Assignments Discussion

I wrote down my predictions before the Shibs announced their comeback so after rethinking it a bit this is where I landed: GPdF - F/G, S/D, FB/C (Shibs?) CoC - C/B, CPom Skate Canada - G/P, S/D NHK - F/G, G/F, FB/C (Shibs) Skate America - C/B, CPom Finlandia - G/P, G/F (Shibs?) Another option...

    2025-26 Grand Prix Assignments Discussion

Yeah, I would imagine both C/B and FB/C will prefer to delay going head to head until at least GPF (especially after what happened in 2017 when P/C had a match-up with V/M at NHK), and that C/B will avoid going to Cizeron's home ice given how much the French federation will politick for him, but...

ISU trying to modernize, is it working?

OK I have to ask, what was the Charlene drama?

Keeping Track of Criminal Cases & SafeSport Suspensions in Skating

It's not that I thought FB/C feel/think differently, but for a new team, and one that is aiming to win an Olympic gold medal, I would have thought they would be more media smart about it. The fact that they are so open with their support for Nik shows once again how few consequences there are...

Keeping Track of Criminal Cases & SafeSport Suspensions in Skating

It makes sense that Mark was asked to avoid mentioning the situation, and I understand why considering I would assume around 95% of the attendees at worlds and the audience at home never heard of the allegations. It would have been smarter to acknowledge the elephant in the room IMO, simply...

The Dance Hall 11: Movin' On Up 2023-2024

Have to say that while the top 4 skated well, it was the teams below them that I enjoyed the most, Lajoie/Lagha and Carreira/Ponomarenko especially. Mrazeks and L/Q were also super impressive for starting out of juniors teams, their FD performance were also highlights. Was interesting to see...

    Carreira/Ponomarenko Need a Cheer Thread

I think without the twizzles error they would have scored 2-2.5 points higher which is good but considering how European teams scored at Euros is still not good enough. I think for me the concern is that if USFS won't push them at worlds, US will lose their 3rd spot and CPom will take the heat...

Keeping Track of Criminal Cases & SafeSport Suspensions in Skating

Have to say, looking at the list of participants at Skate America, that's a short list of skaters that likely fall under that category (that being said Skate America is not the only possible relevant occurrence).
