I kind of agree with the original sentiment, in that Papadakis was very wispy and fluid in her movement in a way that extended and complemented the movements of Guillaume, and it does seem the FD at least is choreographed with Laurence in a similar role… and that is not the style we are used to...
I was interested in the comment about Bukin in 2018... did we know it was a whereabouts violation? Made me sad how his dad tried to help. I guess given the climate it was a hell of a time to miss a doping test.
They need to move up now to get a head start on an Olympic spot. They could get it done at Worlds if they have a strong debut season. Even if they don’t, it will be easier to come into Nebelhorn (or whatever the qualifier event is) with a year of senior competition experience under their belts
I wondered if Isabeau is having spin issues this season because she isn’t practicing spins much on account of back pain from her horrible jump technique. All speculation on my part! But I think it’s weird such a well trained and prepared skater has so many spin mistakes.
That took a lot of strength. Sasha was like a flame I couldn’t look away from. I knew better but I’d watch her on practice and get so drawn in. Those glorious positions, her musicality, her dynamic timing. Even at 2010 nationals when she came back, she did maybe four jumps on practice and I was...
Literally. I’ll never be burned again. When I heard anyone wail over Patrick or Gracie bombing at key moments, my first thought was that they weren’t around for Sasha.
:violin:
She still holds the record for the biggest jump from previous finish to a World title. Papadakis/Cizeron went 14th to 1st from 2014 to 2015 but didn’t break her record
It could be that Dalilah targeted certain students for abuse while doting on others. I don’t doubt the love some of her students expressed for her. It can be hard to see situations clearly when a person you care about and think you know well is accused of such awful behavior.
Going from Ondrej Hotarek to Steuer/Savchenko/Szolkowy is a pretty significant change. Those coaches seem quite different temperamentally. Not many skaters flourish under Steuer’s intensity and H/K surely know what works best for them at this point.
