Aww, Kaori. I hate to see her cry. She's been such an amazing champion in so many ways. Silver and bronze at the Olympics is an amazing accomplishment.

Whether Malinin and C/B should have skated the frees in the team event and if either would have won gold if they didn't?Great, now what will we argue about for the rest of time??? Just dance????
Kaori is big sis, Ami is little sis, and Alysa is the wild cousin that momma worries about when she comes over at the holidays.
I was too busy making sure all of my dance and pairs men have Rechecked back in.

Well in this case, the Worlds podium exactly matched the Olympic podium. Does that happen often among the women?
First time there are two Japanese women on an Olympic podium and three in the top four. Pretty incredible!

Isn't that what we always argue about?Great, now what will we argue about for the rest of time??? Just dance????
I thought the same, but based on the posts by @tony and @Private Citizen it must have changed - no way would they not knowQuestion: I see a lot of handwringing abut Kaor's 3rd combo, but doesn't the +REP count against a combo slot, or was this rule changed and I missed it?

I think Mone would like it a lot better if it did.

Reduction in BV for the Flip, but doesn't take a combo slot.I thought the same, but based on the posts by @tony and @Private Citizen it must have changed - no way would they not know![]()
Can we wrap Ami into bubble wrap and have her have a long career like Kaori? She really is delightful but with all that talent in Japan she might be 12th at Nationals next year for all we know.
She’s really the poster child leader for all the skaters being kind and friendly to each other. Can we just give Kaori a lifetime achievement OGM?
Some US news media wrote about how she did a quad in Juniors. Such a different skater back then.Kind of amazing to think that Alysa is still only 20. Feels like she has been around for years. But I think this is her second skating life and she is a different person and skater. So this version of her makes her feel like she has been around a short time.
Makes me think that if the team event was based on placements, Japan would win hands down.USA and JPN are 1-5. Too bad about Isabeau.
Btw, I can't see her as a Pairs skater.

Adeliia was 3rd in TES.

C/B skated great in the individual event taking part in the TE is not why they lost. Being the most senior skaters on this team they set a great example for all the American skaters since they could have said no to skating in the FD since they would only have one day of rest and they are by the far the oldest skaters on the team but they sucked it up and helped get that Gold medal.Whether Malinin and C/B should have skated the frees in the team event and if either would have won gold if they didn't?
Well, no, because the placements in the TE translated to points and the US won based on those points. But, also, if you added up the scores from each segment of the TE, the US would have still come out ahead of Japan.Makes me think that if the team event was based on placements, Japan would win hands down.
Of note - the Olympic veterans came through in both of their events with medals - Chock/Bates in dance and Alysa in women. Dance was always going to be tight and Malinin got caught up in the US media hype and how different the Olympic arena is to even a packed, home Worlds arena.Whether Malinin and C/B should have skated the frees in the team event and if either would have won gold if they didn't?
