2026 Olys Mens FS PBP - Habemus Pop-am

Some never develop. You know what I meant. This is as bad as people claiming SA survivors are “underage women.”

WTFFFF are you talking about. This is such a wild an inappropriate comment. No, someone saying that a 20 year old is a kid ISN'T AS BAD as someone calling child victims women???

Some people in here need to get off the internet right now.

Ilia earned massive points from me for being so genuine and classy. At the end of a day, it's all about who you are as a human.
One thing that is comforting in all of this, is that his coach/dad seems to be a level headed kind of guy who seems to always be there for his son and, despite what the hype train tried to show us, Ilya himself seems to be reflection of that.
Ilya will be fine and will keep learning.

 at the amount of people who left and aren't watching the medal presentation. Bitter sponsors their guy didn't medal, I guess.

Shaidorov still seems in shock.
There's a photographer ( who may post here ) who tweeted one day that she reckons the audience is 60% American, 30% Italian and 10% other nations at figure skating events.

I think it'll be rather a long time before this is forgotten, actually.

It's a sport, in the end. Sometimes exciting and dramatic is memorable even when the skating isn't great.
Sounds cute but no. Speaking for myself, I cannot imagine wanting to go back and watch these error-filled performances in final group OR listen to the god-awful screeching music of the new Olympic champion’s free skate. Forgettable, through and through.

All of that is very true, but all the same, he missed out on an Olympic medal by 1.12 points. There's no way he's not going to be thinking about what might have been.
You definitely have a point. He'll think about it, of course, but I hope it just gives him the motivation to work harder and improve in the areas he needs to. He's young (just turned 21), so he'll (hopefully) have another chance in 2030.

The German commentators said it could have been the ice - so chewed up from so many hard jumps. It does make sence as Yuma made mistakes and general sloppyness. He`s never like that.

Oh well, Illia now will be doing the Chen 4 year wait.
Adam, Yuma and Ilia will all be doing the wait for a redemptive Olympics in four years. Has there ever been a Games when the last three to skate had such problems?

Yes, the first skater I watched win Olympic Gold has now coached an Olympic Gold Medalist.
I would have loved to see his reaction if we have the normal situation with the skaters sitting with their coaches when they find out.

Shaidorov having to bend way down to get in the selfie.

Well, this is a real mixed emotion for me. I'm thrilled for the medalists, especially gold and sorry for Malinin and Adam who expected different results. But, happy that Gumennik finished where he did under very difficult circumstances. Olympics are always unpredictable which makes them like no other competition.
