2026 Olys Free Dance PBP - Whale, Are We Ready For Some Bull Sheet Scores?

This is when I wish the reporters and cameras would get out of their faces. Let them grieve. Everybody wants that shot of tears or anger. Leave Chock and Bates alone. In time, they'll adopt the outlook Kwan had that I didn't lose gold, I won silver, but not today.
I mean having the leaders sit next to the kiss and cry is crazy. It is just to make the skaters' reaction as public as possible. I can't imagine this in past years. Nancy 94? Michelle 98? Lu Chen 96? I'm sure there are many other that I do not want to see. Kaori last year cheering for Alysa is an outlier.

I don’t think Belbin/Agosto thought they’d be fighting for gold in 2006 and were quite happy with silver, even if they were hoping for gold post-Navka.

Wylie was pleased as punch with silver. When people wuzribbing on his behalf, he said something like how much more of a Cinderella story do you want?

Oh man, it would have been fun to see Plushenko sit there watching Yagudin win in 2002.

I think the point spread matters. B/A were 2nd but pointwise they were closer to 3rd and 4th than they were to 1st. When someone wins by a large margin, the silver medalist is less likely to think, 'I almost won' and feel bummed by that.

Ah well, the skaters move on. I, however, still haven't moved on from MK's lose to Lipinski. :drama: But, she did and I can only be as much as the Kween herself.
I am completely over 98. I'm still hung up on the 97 GPF. I would have given it to Michelle :wuzrobbed :fan:

Omg, I’m now imagining Michelle Kwan getting off the ice in 2002 and having to sit there after that skate while Irina was skating that LP. That would have been crazy!

In case anyone needs a reminder, due to factored placements, Kwan was still in first place overall after her skate and things didn’t get switched up until after Irina lost the LP to Hughes but had beaten Kwan.

It's another of the ISU's silly ideas to gin up the competition so that the KIDZ will want to watch.

At least this time the chairs were nice padded armchairs, not the plastic outdoor picnic chairs we've seen at other events.

Madison never looked at F-B/C once during the medal ceremony. Not ONCE. That is one angry ice dancer.

(She was lucky they were doing the setup where they all skated out and stood behind the podium and stepped up, instead of the version where everyone hugs each other. Can't imagine how that would have gone down.)

I can understand how she feels. At the same time, she just got her first Olympic individual medal and I hope at some point she'll be able to be happy about that!

From a personal standpoint, I've always like both Madison and Evan since they were juniors with other partners. When they decide they are finished with competitive skating, I hope she starts her own design business. That's where her real talent lies and not just skating costumes. She has a bright future ahead of her. Evan can do whatever he wants. #fellowpoodleowners FTW

Piper and Paul had the skate of the night. So glad to see a creative and fun North American couple rewarded.

I like Chock and Bates, but a slightly off Cizeron and Fournier Beaudry skate is still superior. I get that some of you can’t separate what happens off the ice from on it, but they have deserved this since their very first competition together.
Pardon me if I have a thing for proper technique after years of watching skaters like Oksana “Queen of the two-foot triple jump landing” Baiul and Tara “Never did an actual outside edge triple lutz in her life” Lipinski get
away with their cheated skills because they got the reigning champion bonus.

Or closer to home, the adult skater friend who constantly beat me and another skate buddy even though she never ONCE actually JUMPED her single toeloop or salchow - she just walked them around and pretended to do a little hop while one foot was always on the ice and never got penalized. Whereas we actually jumped the required jump. Oh, but she was SUCH a pretty skater.

It gets old after a while…

People are so busy fretting over a twizzle that was penalised they are missing the fact that Z/K had the lowest base value of the top eleven teams and received the score they did.

I get they are up and coming but come on

Anyway it's bedtime. :cheer: :cheer2: for Piper and Paul. You did it :D!

I’m gonna be real, I don’t know how judges score GOE. There are many times where I feel like lower level teams do individual elements better than the top scoring ones, but the scores on those elements don’t reflect that.
That's how I am, too! I think I am more a GOE fan than tech. So just to be clear, I haven't watched yet since I just got home from work but I am pleased to see how it played out. Z/K...my team for sure. Wishing them all success for the future. Glad that C/P ended up top 10. I am perfectly fine with top 3. And how about S/D, wow. Little shocked with F/G being so low. But again, I haven't watched yet. Thrilled for G/P. So time for retirements!
