2023 Skate America in Allen, Texas

Ticket sales to the general public start Tue Jul 11 (today) at 11 am ET/10 am CT, per Ticketmaster page for Credit Union of Texas Event Center.

For example, countdown clock for ticket sales for Fri Oct 20 6 pm session is ETA:-- was -- here:

I am seeing listings only for single-session tickets. No listing for all-event tickets?

So ... I wonder whether ticketholders for single sessions will be allowed to watch practices?? ?

I am supposed to leave for the airport at 10 AM Central for a work conference because I have not been waiting for these tickets to go on sale for two months. And no all event so will have to buy for each session--yay.

Has anyone seen price ranges--apologies if these were posted and I missed them.

The only prices I've seen were the all event ones posted before. I don't think they had individual session tickets then. But honestly this has been the worst ticketing process so far like do they even want people to go??

lol I'm in a terrible mood between this and ao3 still being down I'm truly struggling y'all

To be clear the "new date" is in reference to when tickets will go on sale, not the event. Those dates are still the same on Ticketmaster. For now. I trust nothing at this point.

Sighhhhhhh ... sorry to see that Ticketmaster has changed its tune! :wall:

And sorry for the aggravation for @Rukia and @CassAgain and anyone else.

On the individual session pages, the countdown clock has been replaced by this message:
"On sale date and time are in the works - please check back!"

(For my own reference in case the not-active single-session listings disappear, I am copying below the start times that -- FWIW, at least for now -- are shown on Ticketmaster.
Disclaimer: Because everything has been so erratic, I am taking the start times with a grain of salt!?
Oct 20 Fri 6:00 pm
Oct 21 Sat 2:00 pm
Oct 21 Sat 6:15 pm
Oct 22 Sun 1:00 pm
Oct 22 Sun 7:30 pm)

My suspicion based on nothing but my ability to think up wild scenarios is that they had dates sort of pre-determined in Ticketmaster but then they put it off for whatever reason and today was the original day single session tickets would go on sale. However they have not even sold full event tickets to the general public (which is honestly what you want to sell first) and didn't realize it was still programmed to sell the single event tickets until...9 minutes before this was about to start and someone hurried and pulled the plug.

Press release is finally published today (July 11):
All-session tickets for 2023 Skate America are now available. Skate America, the first of six stops in the International Skating Union (ISU) Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, will take place Oct. 20-22 at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center in Allen, Texas.
All-session ticket packages start at $175 and include access to official practice sessions on Thursday, Oct. 19, all four competition sessions and the Prevagen Skating Spectacular on Sunday, Oct. 22. Single-session tickets will go on sale August 1. Tickets are available at 2023skateamerica.org. Additional taxes and fees may apply.

Yes ... I am getting whiplash, but the link to buy all-session passes:

I did not actually make a purchase, but I was able to select seat and add it to my cart.

The Ticketmaster link above is on the USFS page for Skate America.

So I really haven't been following this but.... OMG what a cluster.

So it's the first event in the season which IMHO is generally subpar (we always seem to have programs that are kind of "half baked" IMHO) and they turn selling tickets into this disaster. :)

And their social media marketing is another failure... Let's not tell people where or when... that will really make them interested LOL!

I think the last time I went to Skate America and US Nationals I winged it and bought tickets at the box office. I bought some single event tickets and I think I bought a weekend package at Nationals. I may have cost a little more but no Ticketmaster fees. Will they still let you do that???

The only time I have heard of that not working was last year's SA I do it for almost every other skating event. Last year for National's I bought every ticket at the window just before the event! Easy!

And I like the "truth in advertising"
"All-session ticket packages start at $175 and include access to official practice sessions on Thursday, Oct. 19, all four competition sessions and the Prevagen Skating Spectacular on Sunday, Oct. 22. " But the cheapest thing I saw was $200. (turns out it's the wrong weekend.. I am in the area the weekend prior so I won't be going)

Those prices must include all the fees because I had nothing else added to the price shown there when I checked out

Wow - so that was crazy! I had been checking this site and the US Figure Skating website every 1-2 days to see when Skate America ticket sales would be announced. I figured it would be like a normal event in that they would announce a date 1-2 weeks in the future when tickets for the event would be sold. Things were busy this week and I had last checked 3-4 days ago and casually refreshed the US Figure Skating website as I was in bed trying to fall asleep. Not only was there an announcement about tickets - the announcement was that they were immediately on sale. And I missed it by several days!

Sigh - I immediately got out of bed, took a look at seats, logged into TicketMaster and booked tickets. Not exactly what I expected to be doing in the middle of the night - what a bizarre way to hold ticket sales. I know their plans were disrupted by the tragedy near the arena, but I don't think I've ever attended an event where tickets just abruptly went on sale without an announcement.

In any case, I was able to get seats - luckily, there were still plenty of good seats left.

The only option I saw for ticket delivery was Will Call - I'd prefer to have the tickets in hand or printed but that was the only option. Though now I see them in my Ticket Master account, so I guess they were just electronic delivery like other events even though they were labeled as Will Call?

US Figure Skating really keeps their events interesting, that is for sure!

I think you are correct about the tickets. The only option I had was will call too, but when I clicked on "manage tickets" in the email receipt it says "Your phone is your ticket" at the top.

Anyway, we all survived the great skam ticketing fiasco of 2023 I guess.

Has anyone booked rooms at the Hampton Inn that is about a half mile away, but across the road? I don’t mind a 10-15 minute walk, but I just want to make sure I can cross the road safely.

I just did a google streetview because I was didn't even remember if there were pedestrian crossings there, but there are! They are just a little funky. There are marked crossing and lights though. I couldn't remember seeing anyone cross there, but I asked my husband and he was just like "yeah I've seen people do it."

So theoretically it's safe because there are marked pedestrian lights, but it's also a very busy area so just keep that in mind. If you can get a group of people I'd feel better about walking that, but that's just me haha. I prefer safety in numbers.

Ugh, no!

We have a Barclays World MC that's been great, any travel transactions you get a percentage cash back, and we just apply it to our balance end-of-month. I usually use my AmEx, though, because of all the traveling I've been doing the last year and a half. Lounge benefits and so on.

I'll be contacting AmEx about it after the holiday.
Probably resolved already. But if you have an Amex with lounge benefits, that’s means you probably have a platinum card or some other premier branded (Delta) card. They come with all types of amazing travel benefits, insurance and purchase protections. If you have a platinum you automatically get Marriott Bonvoy gold status. Just file a claim online. Easy peasy. I always advise friends to make purchases with the right credit card. And if you don’t have a good credit card and are credit worthy to get one, you should absolutely get a card that protects you and works for you.

I got an email from USFS today about tickets being available and want to encourage me to get a package. I haven't bought anything from them for some time, I wonder if they did a mass mailing or something?
