Oh, I'm not surprised. She wasn't a medalist and she isn't American. I'm just happy she had clean performances. Not enough to keep her at the top, but it's got to be good for her morale as she works to stay in the game.

Ridiculous. Amber’s American...then again, they chacked Camden Pullinen from the final group.

I saw Sofia elsewhere. TWO great skates. I especially loved Sofia’s more elegant look in the free (hair up in a bun, really becomes her)...the Bamboleo SP was more of her typical nightclub program with the wild hair but Roxanne showed a cooler elegance. I’d hate for this high-performing “older” Russian to be forgotten.

Apparently she had a rough couple of skates at this first event back, with some falls on lutzes. Hope it's onward and upward from here.

Kudos to Sofia for pulling up to 4th today even with mistakes. She has a strong set of programs this year (good riddance, Roxanne!) and if she can put more strength and energy into them, I think she can make a statement with them. Girl needs to channel her inner Burlesque skater and let loose!

Thanks for posting the videos here. My post about the mistakes was actually about the previous Russian Cup competition! She skated cleanly and confidently this time with only a slight mistake or two. I'm pleased about that. That Mishin "compete all you can" strategy really works!
