Just signed a birthday card that is being circulated, for a coworker's 80th birthday. He is one of our best engineers, and a very nice person. He is liked by all, including the bosses. Who says you must retire by a certain age? He seems to be enjoying his work and we are so happy that he is celebrating his 80th birthday! We wish him many more.

Sunday, May 1, 2016, will mark the end of the Ringling Bros. Circus elephants' performances...YAY! They will live in retirement at the circus' elephant sanctuary in Florida. GOOD NEWS!!! However, I must admit that it was exciting to see Gunther run his huge herd into the arena to the theme of "Shaft" back in the day. Something you just don't forget...ever!
But then...times (and attitudes) change don't they? :)

WONDERFUL NEWS! The Syrian refugees who were recently welcomed into Canada are taking up collections to help the citizens of Alberta who have been victims of the devastating wildfires and who have most probably...lost everything. Good for them! There are some people who remember what human suffering is all about and who remember why we are here on this planet...to help each other. :respec:

This is not exactly 'good news' but it's pretty funny. A friend and I went to a Scheherazade concert here in Phoenix. Something happened at the concert. I laughed so hard after the concert that I had a stomach ache.

Here is what I posted on my facebook page:

Something outrageously funny happened during the Scheherazade concert tonight. I bought one of the singing toys at the Phoenix Symphony. They always have a variety of those for sale. This one was a yellow duck or monkey singing 'If you are happy and you know it clap your hands' and in the middle of the song it starts hopping, moving, and making even more noise. I kept the bag containing the toy I had just bought next to my aisle seat. For some reason an usher objected to that and pushed it under my chair. He must have accidentally hit the red button on the toy's hand because the toy started singing and even hopping inside the bag, while Scheherazade concert was going on. I had to reach inside the bag, find the red button and push it to make it stop. I am sure the people in the row in front of me and possibly at the back heard the singing and the (hopping) noise, disrupting the concert. I was embarrassed, annoyed, and entertained all at once.:) I had to suppress my laughter throughout the concert. My friend Diana who sat next to me also struggled to keep from laughing. Once the concert was over and we were outside, we stood by a rail and got all the laughter out. That's when I saw (my Toastmaster friends) Sally and Julia walking up to me. I don't know if they heard the commotion during the concert. Later Diana and I were still laughing as we walked to the car. I should never buy a singing toy when I go to a concert. I had bought toys before but they never sang during the concert and certainly did not hop. If only the usher had left it alone, my toy was sleeping quietly by my seat. I think it didn't like to be moved :)

Well this has to do with just how many planets there are in the universe. There's apparently more planets than anyone ever dreamed there would be, and there may even be the discovery of another earth-like planet in the future.

Kepler mission announces largest collection of planets ever discovered.

NASA’s Kepler mission has verified 1,284 new planets – the single largest finding of planets to date.

“This announcement more than doubles the number of confirmed planets from Kepler,” said Ellen Stofan, chief scientist at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “This gives us hope that somewhere out there, around a star much like ours, we can eventually discover another Earth.”

There was a teleconference May10th regarding the validated 1,284 planets.

Hollywood stardom beckens for "world's loneliest dog"! Little Freya has spent six years in an animal rescue waiting to be adopted. Now director Michael Bay wants to put her in his next Transformers movie in hopes that in doing so he will help the dog find a new home. If not, the director says he will take Freya himself!

*** Teen Who Asked To Carry Groceries In Exchange For Food Gets Good Karma In Return :

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...roceries-for-food_us_576d42c1e4b017b379f5a80b
Mike White, 30, was in the produce section of a Kroger in Memphis, Tennessee, when 16-year-old Chauncy Jones Black approached him and asked if he could carry his groceries to his car in exchange for a pack of glazed donuts.
I just met the most inspiring person ever. His name is Chauncy Jones. He's a 16 year old from Memphis. He had taken the bus at 9:00 at night to get to the "rich people's Kroger" on Highland as he called it. He approached me while I was shopping for produce asking if he could help me carry my grocery bags to my car in exchange for buying him a pack of glazed donuts. This kid looked like he had been turned down 100 times. He looked ashamed, hungry and broken. In my heart I screamed a loud "yes!", but to him I just chuckled and said, "yeah dude, we'll get you some donuts".
