First thing that pops out is I thought Kevin Reynolds has retired? Second, interesting that Skate Canada has not left one, or even two, Ladies spots TBA.

When do the TBD spots have to be filled? If, in fact, Gracie is planning a comeback, could the US also give her SA?

Surprised to see Gracie show up at Rostlecom. Here's hoping she feels confident and has a great competition.

We still have Denis Ten, but definitely not Han Yan. And apparently Xiangning Li is going to try skating singles AND pairs!

Yea I was so surprised to see Gracie for Rostelecom. I HOPE it doesnt get crossed out eventually. And I also hope she does some Bs, gets fit and then gets the TBD for SkAm. I can dream!

Looking at the grids you can really see there has been an exodus. But then there are some people I thought were retiring but arent.

I will miss Marchei & Hotarek.

Cool to see both Hendrickxs siblings at SkAm and Finland.

Glad Voronov and Reynolds got skin in the game.

I also thought Brezina and Fentz had retired.

Cant wait to see Madi & Evan. and CAROLINA!!!! Give it to me one more time Caro!!!!!

I'll just copy my first impressions from the other thread:

Men:
*Yee, Lee, Aymoz, Reynolds, Zandron , Paniot, Fentz, Harris , Erokhov and Lazukin beneffited from the post olympic retirements.
*Denis Ten still competing! only 1 event though :(
*Nothing outraging here but I wish Kerry had 2 events and Carrillo and Hayrapetyan were invited. I think every skater that made the LP at Worlds should get 1 event at the least.

Ladies:
*Full rosters for RUS and JPN !!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
* Rika Hongo is the only single skater from the Top SB/WS lists to only get 1 event :(:(
*Samodurova debuting right away
* NO more Perkova
*Shiraiwa sneaking in!
*FIN only using 1 spot!!:wall: This is their best discipline and a huge opportunity wasted.
*Hicks and Wang getting reaaally lucky
*Happy for Gracie making a comeback.
*Lots of OES skaters missing but that's a consequence of the JPN/RUS dominance.

Pairs:
*No more Marchei/Hotarek :(
*Where the hell are Stolbova and Klimov !
*US Pairs benefitting big time from all the retirements.
*TBD FIN pairs spot?? For who???
*Esbrat/Novoselov only team on the SB/WS lists only getting 1 event.

Dance:
*No more Cappellini/Lanotte and Coomes/Buckland . They will be missed.
*RUS inviting the armenian team not checking first they have already split!:rolleyes:
*Lots of lesser ranked teams making their debuts: Muller/Dieck, both young GB teams, Yanovskaya/Lukacs, Reed/Ambrulevicius.
*Carreira/Ponomarenko making their senior jump already. Ambitious.

Yes USA can give her the host pick. Its going to be between her and Wang/Glenn/Hicks or any suprirse alla Tennell that shows up in great form during summer comps.

Xiangning Li is doing both singles and pairs?

Stolbova/Klimov are done?

Nice to see Ryom/Kim, Julian Yee, Phillip Harris getting initial spots.

Kostner's gonna keep going? I'm fine with that!

And in summary, basically none of the men retired. Brezina, Bychenko, Voronov, Majorov, Reynolds, Ten, Besseghier all still around next season, at least for now.

I did a double take when I saw Gracie's name. Is that just an assumption that she'll be competing or...?

I think can be assured that she wouldnt be in the pool if USFSA hadn't spoken with her to see her plans. Once her name is in the pool she can be selected and she was.

Lets hope she competes!!!!

The lineup for Moscow is abysmal.
And it's way too similar to Helsinki.

I, too, noticed that a lot of those going to Finland can just stay put and train for a week and a half and go directly next door to Russia.

I am thinking a lot of it was probably chosen that way for logistics / costs / easier on skaters...???...

and... dont you think Rostelecom always chooses their top skaters and then goes wayyyy down the list to fill a lot of their slots? It is ESPECIALLY noticeable when someone withdraws and then they replace it. They never go with the top 2 who are next in line but usually someone way down list......

I just went to go view the grids again.... and yes their Ice Dance, Mens and Ladies are the weakest of all the GPs. In mens Im not even sure whom the Italian is. Ive never even heard of him. Never heard of the Hungarian Ice Dance team.
