Well, they would be for me just by seeing the name(s) of the skater(s) because cbc sports will only post individual skate videos under very specific situations which completely give the game away. (The real titles of the videos are even worse.) I prefer to err on the side of caution. Spoiler tagging prevents no one from immediately accessing the video list if they want to but not tagging them gives no choice.

Personally I have never been bothered by knowing the outcome before watching, but I know there was at least one member here that was quite upset that he/she/they could not even access cbc sports replays without being confronted by spoiler information at one time. Fortunately there is now a way around that, though.

First off, yes, CBC will be airing some of the World Championships on television. Note that I used the word “some.” I’ve been told “portions” of the competition will be on the CBC network and, if I had to guess, most of that will probably be on Saturday, when the public broadcaster normally airs a large chunk of amateur sports content during the afternoon (not a chance it’s bumping aside Hockey Night in Canada, by the way).

Beyond that … we’ll have to wait and see.

The entire event will be streaming on CBC platforms (cbcsports.ca, CBC Gem), most likely by taking the ISU’s feed (which usually features the excellent Mark Hanretty). Keep an eye on the CBC’s website for the exact times and schedule for the broadcasts, yet to be finalized by the ISU.

My guide is showing
12.30-2.30am Thurs 21st Pacific (so 9.30-11.30 Eastern Wed 20th)
5.30-7.30pm Thurs 21st (8.30-10.30 Eastern).
Doesn't show as far ahead as Friday yet for anything.

I'm quite confident the entire competition will also be streamed live on Gem with the ISU feed. Their streaming schedule indicates this (even if it's a bit loosey-goosey atm).

Can anyone tell me if the CBC Player streams can be rewinded a bit for a late watch?

I know it can’t be done on Gem.

The ISU feed has spoiled me. 😊

Yes, I believe they can. I don't know how long after the live streaming they appear on CBC.player - maybe right away? Anyway usually after the live streaming at some point they're available on player.

ETA: Just checked by looking for GPF vids on player and they can be rewound, started wherever, etc.

Thanks Alilou - I was wondering about the live stream as CBC takes too long to upload them afterwards.

The CBC live stream does not let you rewind and I agree it often takes a while for the replay to be posted.
I don't know if radio canada will have French commentary on their feed (maybe only for the free skates? that's what I recall last year). But their streams do allow you to rewind about 30 minutes and the link for the live stream is the same as the replay so you can watch it right away. Good to hear that CBC Sports finally decided to have TV coverage of this year's Worlds. It would have been pretty bad for Canada's skating image to have a Worlds here in Canada with no Canadian TV coverage.

Glad to see those emails I sent to CBC Sports over the past few months made a difference. ;) Seriously though, I wonder if a lot of people complained about the lack of coverage, or if someone at CBC Sports just realized it made good sense to do it?

The times kinda match up with the cable times above.

At times will need to choose between watching streaming of ISU feed with Mark Hanretty, or switching to broadcast tv with Megan and prob Kurt (?) and I don't know who else.

Fingers crossed that could be exactly what's behind the sudden change of format and links since yesterday. Or maybe it's just a bad-timing thing and they have the page down for maintenance/updates.

I actually have several different cbcsports links I was using to find replays. Sometimes they showed up faster on one page and sometimes on another. I even found some in one place that never showed up in the others.
When I checked them just now I get the 404 message for all but this one, which still seems to be working -

FYI the CBC live link for the pairs short gives a 404 error and I can't find the replay. Thankfully the radio Canada link works. I watched some of the pairs short today during work breaks, was able to rewind 30 minutes and once the live show was over you could immediately rewind to the beginning. That's how streaming should be done LOL (though being able to completely rewind the live feed would be even better LOL)
