Hosting a dinner party today where we'll see P/C's performances on a projection screen. In preparation I went back to Roger Angel's short comment in The New Yorker on their 2018 FD. Still remember the validation I felt when I first read it. (Angel is one of my favorites from that golden era of the magazine and I trust his aesthetic judement as much as anyone else's, even though he is not a dance specialist.)
I read this article myself numerous times and, like you was comforted by it ... it was a time of such stupid and loony animosity towards Gabi and Guillaume.
The only point I resented was the description of Gabi's face ... I hope she never gets a nose job like so many because everyone seems to think that a "barbie nose" is the epitome of beauty! :scream:

Enjoy the screening with you friends @bcash! I wish I could share that moment with you! :)

How fun! Are your guests familiar with P/C's programs or are some of them watching for the first time? Definitely curious to know their thoughts!

No matter how many times i rewatch their programs, my favorite remains Sunday Morning. It's so raw and heartfelt. Their 2019 world's performance was spectacular.

What is the program(s) you rewatch the most ? For me, I have phases so hard to say. For RD their waltz in Boston and their whacking. For FD tough to say used to watch their buildca home a lot but now would be more oddudua and sunday morning at worlds + on ice perspective Find me.

I have phases too. But I think their tango is the RD I've watched the most, even though their waacking might overtake this program.
For the FD, I've watched build a home a lot too, but Find me is a close second. And I have rediscovered Sunday morning recently, I just love this program.

One Ice Perspective videos are dangerous for me. I know some people don't like that style of video, but I personally love it. Once I start with PC's on ice vids, I can't stop watching. The Find Me on ice perspective video is beautiful. I wish I could have a audio recording of just the music and the sounds of their blades on the ice to listen to when I need to go to my happy place lol

When it comes to the actual programs I rewatch the most, definitely Sunday Afternoon (perhaps my fav FD ever; I love it that much) at worlds 2019; To Build a Home at worlds 2016; Mozart at worlds 2015; I don't have a specific outing for it but their Fame RD; Made To Love I've already rewatched about 1,000 times; same with their FD showings at Oly and worlds 2022. Oh and of course their 2018 worlds SD and their 2016 worlds SD. Also, their Gravity and Oblivion show numbers (unfortunately, I never loved how they performed their tango romantica pattern in competition).

I rewatch Sunday Morning the most. It has that blend of sweet romance, the pain of love & longing, and a sense of uneasy content at the end. In terms of modern free dances, it has hands down the best storytelling to me. I just love this Free Dance so much.

Their Tango RD from that season as well, especially from Worlds, is just sublime. The way the music, choreography, and elements just build all this tension until the pattern, and then there's this amazing release as they go into straightline steps. Just brilliant in its conception, construction, & execution. The 2018-19 season had their best set of program overall. The maturity in their skating + storytelling was just mind-blowing, and will likely go unmatched for at least another decade.

100% this. I also think Find Me is absolutely brilliant. I wasn't quite thrilled with the FAME rd. Think the choice of music was a bit off and they just struggled with the genre. But Find Me is BRILLIANT as with Sunday Afternoon genius. Completely ahead of their time.

You worded this perfectly! Exactly why I can't stop rewatching this program.

I was not sold on the music for Sunday Afternoon at first but their skating elevated it for me. I also loved their character step sequence. It was the first year this element was introduced and they just killed it from the get-go. They are just brilliant with this element. My favorite little pleasure is to watch the run through of that program at IdF 2018

See, I loved the music (I actually listen to it pretty often lol) AND their program at first. Especially after the stream of criticism that they did the same programs each year, I was so glad they were doing sometime unlike what they had done before. Maybe it's also b/c they missed that whole GP season (right?) so we had to wait months to see them compete. I agree they elevated the music, though. Not sure I would have been as captivated by it so quickly if it wasn't a GG program introducing me.

The character step and one-foot step are 2 of my all-time fav elements across all figure skating programs. Took me a couple watches for me to identify the character step b/c it was just so beautifully weaved into the program. And the OFS went perfectly to the music. Oh and that rotational lift toward the end of the program - right after the diagonal (or circular?) step sequence and right before the ChSt, when the music goes "i heard your voice" and he pulls her into the lift. Ugh. They get amazing speed and it's so well timed to the music.

Ok I will stop there because I can go on and on about this program forever lol actually last thing I will say is, I love how perfect this program is for Gabi. She's so confident and in her element.

Guillaume recently worked with the new pair team of Piegad/Strekalin - 2 photos & a clip from the Bercy Arena near Paris: https://www.instagram.com/p/CdWZ_GWoJ69/

They have shows coming up in Japan in May & June:

So did Vanessa James. BTW Bercy Arena is inside the city, not near it ;) It's a wonderful arena, with hotels right across the square, that I miss greatly even if it meant a 3 hours train ride vs a 40 mn drive to Grenoble. Now that French GP has moved to Angers it's a lot more complicated for my alpine self. I'm not sure I'll be going. Torino GP is much closer to where I live, 2 hours drive to the other side of the mountain, vs 11 h to Angers 😭 France is a tiny country but I live in one of its remote corners, stuck between Switzerland and Italy. I must not complain since there still is Courchevel JGP and Masters in my area and Grenoble was so close. But you get used to geographical privileges 😄

My parents live there and have a big house. I was thinking of going and hosting any SIG people needing accommodation ;) they are close to the rink.

 that dress is essentially white underwear with a net curtain over the top.

Oh, it's quite properly lined with a nude fabric underneath, but yeah... Though I suppose it's not any less revealing than plenty of skating dresses.

I love Find Me. I loved it during it's season, but it became one of my favorites when seeing it with on ice perspectives. It's probably the one I have watched and rewatched the most.

That said, I love every single free dance of theirs and probably half the rhythm/short dances.
