Zingas/Kolesnik Fan Thread - They Have “It”

Vadym was spotted a couple weeks ago at a solo dance competition in Kalamazoo wearing an orthopedic walking boot, so I wonder if that was when he first had the sprain? At Champs Csmp he’d lost the boot and was walking and going up/down steps fine. Hope they haven’t lost too much training time.

BTW, Coach Vadym & Coach Emi reportedly had around 20 students competing at the dance comp.

They are darlings 🥰 I caught their other live and they said they plan on accompanying their students to the Solo Dance Final in mid September. They have twenty students competing in the final. Didn't realize they did this much coaching! I see a very real coaching career after they retire, especially for Vadym who's coached on the side for so many years.

They are sweeties! They stopped to take photos and autographs twice during Nationals in Wichita when my daughter was a sweeper!

According to the extended interview from champs camp, Vadym sustained his injury trying a new choreo jump 😪

"Kolesnik did not skate in the Sizzler, as he is recovering from a mild ankle sprain sustained while trying a new choreo jump. Zingas skated a solo program, and, in a throwback to her not-so-distant past as a singles skater, included a Double Axel. She shared that she can still land all the triple jumps. "

Not the choreo jump being the culprit! 😭
But at least it was more of a freak accident than a chronic injury. I hope they still get to do a challenger!
Hope so too. They did say that they should still be able to compete in a challenger, but it'll probably a later one

What caught my eye was Emi’s words

“It’s my first pattern competing, and my first pattern inside a rhythm dance ever. And it’s also my first time ever doing the Golden Waltz. But, you know, I was really courageous when I decided to choose ice dance, and I don’t think I’ve lost that spirit. We’ve been working really hard on the Golden Waltz, and I think people will be surprised. I think it’s gonna be a strength for us, even.”

If we’ve learned anything from this girl, it’s that she will work her butt off to prove haters wrong. And she has, big time! I’m excited to see their golden waltz!

For the sake of completeness, another preview clip from this Emi/Vadym interview:

(Sep 3)

Hope fans of the Detroit Lions don't see this :D:

When USFS asked which NFL team is their favorite, Emi and Vadym each gave the diplomatic reply of "New England Patriots and Detroit Lions," per today's article. ;)

This interview is excellent! Emi expresses herself well and has a very mature and grounded view of her place in ice dance. It wa nice to get to know her a bit more. I'm very excited for their programs and their vision for themselves. She said we will be surprised in a good way with their version of Bolero and that the movement will be quite modern.

Emo and Vadym’s interview on Secrets from Athletes dropped yesterday - the story of Vadym’s first meeting with Chris is priceless🤣

These two are adorable! Is Chris Emi's dad? He sounds like a great guy. A beloved orthopaedic surgeon in the area.

Emi and Vadym captured looking very intently on at the U.S. National Solo Dance Final:

It warms my heart to see them behind the boards! Emilea said she has 34 students and 20 of them are competing at the solo dance final.
