Worlds 2025 Pairs Short: “Boston T-Back Party”

I agree the crowd was pretty lethargic by the end. It feels like a bit of mistake to not have put the women in the evening. Also a little unfair to the pairs who have to do their free tomorrow night. Having them in the afternoon would have given a bit more time in between.

wow, what if it’s Italy and the USA that walk away with three teams for next season.
I mean, it's still within the realm of possibility... Gonna have to light some 🕯️🕯️🕯️ for that to happen.
The order for the FS is going to be great except I think Kam/O'Shea are one place too high, but the top 4 could swap places and that makes for an interesting competition.
Eh, I think KamOShea were probably a bit overscored, but it's a home Worlds, so I don't know that we can expect anything less.

components for Deanna & Maxim very very low
They have been low all season.
Because that program is a steaming pile of 💩
Last season they had two of the best programs in pairs. This season not so much. They need to really think about that for next season. Would love to see them consult with ShaeLynn on at least a SP.

I think this would be a great combo!

They also made a shitload of tech mistakes today. They lost probably over 2 points on the twist alone. And then negatives on the spin and throw as well. But it’s been a bit how the season has gone so I’m not surprised.

I think there’s really no salvaging this season, so just hope they can skate competently in the free. And then take a good long rest and start fresh for next year. I don’t think they are planning to tour this spring, so I’m hoping this is their plan.

Spot watch for worlds. Need 13 or fewer

USA
5 + 9 =14

ITA
2 + 14 =16

CAN
7 + 10 =17

Japan took itself out of the adding spots conversation

UZB on bubble of adding second spot in 11th place (need top 10)
Just a heads up - spot watch for Worlds is different than spot watch for the Olympics.

Crossing my fingers USA, ITA & CAN can get 3.

I'm good with all the placements. I have issues with a lot of the scores. If E/M move up one spot and K/O'S don't move down, the US will have three spots in pairs. I think it's highly unlikely Ellie and Danny will stay in fourth, and I think it would be really hard for E/M to actually move up, but kudos for getting close. In the SP at least.

It's going to be interesting to see how everything shakes out. MetBeru almost always have issues when they're close to the medals, so I really think they're going to falter in the FS and drop behind SDDes, at the minimum, and KamOShea too if they skate clean (which is less of a given). I'm putting my eggs in the basket of EfiMit moving up at least two spots - they've consistently outscored both PavSvia & GoluGM when in the overall scores, so I think 7th is within their grasp.

PerMich can probably move up a couple spots also, and if SDDes also can move up at least 1 spot, then Canada will keep their 3 spots.

I also need GhiAmbro to move up at least 3 spots, if ConMac can hold onto their 2nd place spot. That may be a heavier lift, but they're capable of closing the distance with GeyChig and finishing 11th.

Totally agree. Did it make sense before and having lived, even less sense.

I was busy trying to get myself into the ISU but the thing about S/D was that he was super clunky and off the entire program. Like he was trailing her for a split second on everything and trying to catch up. Really, really off. I said it at the beginning of the year that they would be off the World podium with these programs even if they skated well and I think it would’ve been true today even if they were clean. It just doesn’t go anywhere and the music is too one-level.

I didn't feel like we were lethargic by the end. Hase/Volodin were way better in practice. This just felt much lower energy. Sdd's short is just not good lol. C/M got a ton of support.

Tomorrow is the real marathon day soooo lol

Tomorrow & Friday both are marathon days. Both start around 11am ET and end just before 10pm ET. That's a LOT of skating, both days.
