So far, the evidence appears to overwhelmingly point to Robinson as the lone assassin.

The problem with this case has been conspiracy theorists like Candace Owens (who IMHO has been a “pick me” for the political right for about a decade now). But a lot of those specifics are probably a better fit for the political threads.

I thought it was his parents that turned him in first, plus the roommate/lover turned over their texts.

The conspiracies just get crazier and stupider. Yesterday on reddit a bunch of people were going around saying that Israeli spyware blew up and accidentally killed Charlie so they had to find a patsy to blame it on. It also doesn't help that people like the Utah governor immediately declared "death penalty!!!" when the investigation barely started. I would say that all the hype and craziness is just going to taint the jury, but this is Utah so most people they're going to find will be naturally sympathetic to the State no matter what but jmo

I haven't been following the prelims today but since I'm supposed to hang out with my inlaws today I'm sure I'll hear all sorts of things about it. Maybe even stuff that actually happened! Who knows!

So far, I’m not sure how the defense is going to successfully fight this case other than getting evidence thrown out. And I think even that is likely a reach.

So far, I’m not sure how the defense is going to successfully fight this case other than getting evidence thrown out. And I think even that is likely a reach.

The defense is expected to go after the DNA evidence found on the towel with the rifle suspected to have been used in the assassination. DNA tests have found both Robinson’s and his roommate’s DNA on the towel.

I think it's going to be the videos of their police interviews. The prosecution wanted them there in person but that request was denied for the prelim.

Thanks for the clarification. I’ve wondered what this testimony is going to entail. I believe one of the factors in prosecutors are using in pursuing the death penalty is that the murder wasn’t politically motivated (as well as it happening with minors present). Could this ex-roommate be used to prove motive?

Of course, the prosecutors have to get a first degree murder conviction first.

It’s going to be fascinating what the jury questionnaire and composition is going to end up being for this trial.

Tyler fell in love and was offended that Charlie was anti-trans and encouraging that behavior in his followers. Sounds politically motivated to me, but holy fcksht this is gonna get super nasty. The comments in the video is already full of rabid anti-trans vitriol.

Plus the conspiracy theorists who seem to be convinced that Twiggs has been (and probably still is) working with “the Feds”.

Honestly, I plan on just following either the Court TV or a SLC news affiliate stream and ignoring any online comments on this case.

It seems that the prosecution has given Twiggs an immunity deal in exchange for the testimony.
