I feel that Seguin/Bilodeau don't get nearly enough love here, so I'm starting a thread for them, because I love them to pieces and they are super adorable.

They looked great in the SP at the Autumn Classic. Can't wait to see how the LP has progressed since the Quebec Summerskate competition in August. :)

They are amazing. I've been a huge fan ever since I first saw their 2014-2015 Grand Budapest Hotel short.

Thank you for starting this thread :)

Just in time for their first international gold!

(Assuming Mervissa don't do three quads in the next two minutes)

They said they got a head start on this season's preparations. All the best to them. Very exciting to see up and comers.

Their lovely (and clean!) free skate from the Autumn Classic can be seen here. Their program starts at about the 9:33 point of the video.

Ahhhh, they're SO CUTE. Love love love. :D :biggrinbo:cheer2:

ETA: I noticed they've made some content changes in the LP since they debuted the program at Quebec Summerskate. At Summerskate, they attempted SBS 3-loops as their second triple jump in the LP and their two throws were throw triple lutz and throw triple loop. At Autumn Classic today, they did SBS 3-sals as their second triple jump and the two throws were throw triple flip and throw triple loop.

I think they tried a 3t-2t-2t in Quebec too.

I'd like to see the sbs loops in the FS when they're more comfortable with it.

I thought they should have scored higher in the SP at Classic. I mean, those sbs triple loops...*kisses fingers like an Italian man making pizza*

They even got beat by James/Cipres on PCS. With all those mistakes? C'mon, dude.

well...they are not always recognized by judges..at the quebec summer compet. where everyone's outing was rough..they scored kmt2 at almost the same score on the short...68.01 against 68.98.
I think having a quad throw brainwashes judges a bit and J/C had a much cleaner big element run than normal...I really want to see higher PCS from S/B. Is it possible the judges were not expecting it so didn't mark it.?

Quads do seem to blind and brainwash judges though. I love Vanessa and Morgan, and they are pretty hot this season with new coach, John Zimmerman. :smokin: Yet, S/B are looking sharper & more precise than in their debut, and they are as lovely as ever. S/B clearly have better skating skills than J/C and well-executed programs at AC with no glaring mistakes. I think the judges must have got into the sexy drama of J/C's programs or something. In the fp, I suppose it was J/C's throw quad salchow that mostly won over the judges.

Still, S/B prevailed with the gold medal. Going forward, I think S/B are solid Canadian #2 pairs. They are definitely a top level competitive team internationally, even despite missing Worlds last season due to Julianne's injury.

thanks for this! i need to keep an eye on this team then. they seem to be a really solid pair with better artistry/expression than canada's premier pair team

^^ Seguin/Bilodeau are very special, but they are still a young, up-and-coming team. I think they have a unique style and expression on the ice, and a rare chemistry. Duhamel/Radford have a completely different style that works well for them, and their lines and expression have greatly improved over the past four years. I do not feel that S/B necessarily trump D/R in every PCS category. Not at this point anyway. I would say that S/B do have better overall SS though.

To me their chemistry is what draws you into the program. While I do enjoy DR as well it's a more clinical enjoyment.

I haven't seen SB since they were junior. Would love to see them one of these years.

well worth it if you do...the last 3 yrs has been a great progression. They have wonderful coaches who send them away for areas that they are having problems in and so far they have come back with a huge throw the first senior off season and a huge twist at nationals last year. Meantime their skating skills and chemistry has been growing steadily and at Autumn classic I was totally drawn into their program. There are only a few skaters who do that for me..In dance P/C and V/m and in pairs V/T I/M and this year added S/M and S/B.

It's been so cool to follow the progress of their twist. It went from smallish/crashy almost overnight to incredible heights. And it seems bigger every time.

SO THRILLED for Julianne and Charlie and their first senior GP win!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

"There's something that is intangible about them, and I can't quite put my finger on it... but when they take the ice, you find yourself rooting for them, and I think it's that feeling of that genuine relationship between them - that they're out there together, at ease with each other." -- John Coughlin (commentator on IceNetwork's live feed)

That pretty much perfectly sums up how I felt about this team from the first time I saw them. Coughlin also compares them to Dube & Davison, who were also big favourites of mine in the past, but already, S&B are much more consistent technically than D&D ever were, which bodes very well for them.
