The Dance Hall 14: Waltz Tango Foxtrot

On a different note, in the off season with people having too much time on their hands, I don't understand good vs bad ice dance, I just go on how entertained I am. Can someone tell me what a clean turn is vs a not clean turn with examples? I can see underrotations, sometimes even in real time, but I don't know what I am looking at to see whether a skater gets a turn or a key point or not. Can someone point to videos with timestamps of teams doing something well vs others doing it egregiously poorly?

A new ice dance team -Marin Honda and Shoma Uno. (senior, Japan)

They have been training as ice dancers for the past 1.5 years with an aim of competing in the Olympics!

Some interesting notes:

- Since October 2024, when they made the decision to form an ice dance team, they have been training in ice dance with the goal of competing in the Olympics.

- “I never even thought about it when I was a single skater,” shoma said, adding that the turning point came when the two of them skated in “One Piece on Ice” together.

- They have been working with Misato Komatsubara, a former ice dance champion in Japan.

Why though? Medical history with Ovarian Cancer? 😥
Depends on which treatment Piper needed. Had to look it up myself, many can get pregnant afterwards, if eggs were taken out before treatment you might have a better chance. If uterus has been removed of course you need a surrogate.
IIRC she was diagnosed very early.

Alicia Fabbri has posted an Instagram story showing her skating with an unidentified male (face mostly not visible), presumably teasing a new partnership. Hannah Lim also posted a potential teaser photo, which has relaunched the Zachary Lagha rumors/speculation for her on social media.

The whole influencer-ification of skating thing is way too obvious with everyone's irritatingly teaser-laden approach to presenting news. I'm a millennial, I'm getting too old for this.

I agree, and everything about this.

But again I'll mention, gotta love Ice Dance. It's NEVER boring.

People are saying the face/nose looks like Marko Jevgeni, the Estonian former partner of Solène Mazingue, who sadly quit the sport after the sexual assault incident. Marko stayed with IAM and Solène left.

Funnily enough it also looks like Quentin Thieren who is a senior ice dancer for Canada who split with his partner Sandrine Gauthier at the end of the season.

It’s got to be one of those two but too close to tell which one.

Well, this is certainly interesting news. I have been somewhat amazed at the difference changes in partners makes. All the best to them. I wonder what Tony thinks of this?
