In Emi Zingas' latest Tiktok, she said her new roommate is Amy Cui. How cool is it that? Two former single skaters defying the odds and doing so well in ice dance! Maybe part of the reason why they've become good friends.

I do agree but she is also fairly new relatively speaking. The earliest programs I could find that she had done on Wikipedia were from the 23-24 season. She has built up a very impressive roster of programs very quickly though and I do think she'll be rivaling the more well established choreographers very soon.
 
Apparently she also choreographed Kushida/Shimada's very intriguing Giselle FD which they debuted at The Destiny (also choreographed by Kaitlyn, with assistance from Mitch Islam) so she's already on a roll this season.

I wonder in a way if there's an advantage to still being slightly under the radar in ice dance, though. Obviously less risk of creative dilution and potentially more time to check in with clients throughout the season as needed, but also lower odds of a backlash against someone perceived to be overused -- "great, another x program, they're all the same blah blah blah." In any event, right now it's nice to see a fresh perspective.

Liĺak make a good couple, I hope they can improve and bring the swish and deeper edges for the waltz. Like their vibe.

I am also looking forward to Nadíia and Noe, they make magic together. She in particular is an exceptional dancer.
 
Can't say I really like Alicia FABBRI & GAIDAJENKO's FD that much, but she's a completely transformed dancer with him. (I just went and watched H&D's program from 2018 afterwards)

Canadian ice dancers who give brother & sister vibes really should split earlier, I think. :lol:

No real comments on Lim & Lagha, other than to wonder how much he and Marjorie must have hated skating together for years.
 
She's always had a personality on the ice. She had it with her partner before Paul, and I am glad to see it back.

I prefer the FD music to the RD, and F&G have a long way to go. But I do like the feel of the partnership. At any rate, kudos to them for getting out there.

From a recent interview with Rika:
RD chose "Golden Hour" and "this is what falling in love feels like," collaborations between JVKE and Fujii Kaze [remix]. Kihira said excitedly, "I couldn't think of any classic waltz songs, but 'golden hour' was already on my playlist. I'm so happy to be able to skate to a song I love."
FD selected "Mon Dieu" and "Song for the Little Sparrow." "(Nishiyama) Shingo came up with the idea. We talked about wanting to give a more mature performance than last year. Since it's a love story, we want to express a romantic feeling," she said enthusiastically.

Maybe he's just happy to be skating to classical music.

The first two teams out the gate indicate to me that everyone is landing with someone more their "vibe." Fabbri, Lagha, they look nothing like they did in previous partnerships. I was already the most curious about Gautier/Ayer, so I'm hopeful they follow this trend.

I am still completely :confused: as to how Lajoie & Baker will turn out. That partnership is still baffling to me.

I didn’t mean what he looks like on the ice. Social media and how he interacts with Hannah off-ice got me thinking.

I’m glad all the teams are happy.

I’m sure Lajoie/Baker will be fine too and radiate their happiness also.

Hannah (Ki-hyun):
Ki-hyun: I previously trained with Coach Igor Shpilband at Novi in Michigan. Since I was trained in a similar manner to other ice dancers from the very beginning, learning the basics made it relatively easy for me to adapt to movements performed with a partner and to skate while imagining I had a partner.
I also received some partner training from Logan Bye to improve my pattern dancing in solo competitions. I think those diverse experiences have been helpful.
Q2-1. Did you train with another skater before Quan Ye?
Ki-hyun: Before forming a team with Quan Ye, I trained with another partner for about four or five months, and including Ye, I participated in tryouts about four times in total.

Q4. How long have you two been training together as a team, and could you share any thoughts you have had while working together so far?
Quan Ye: We have only been training together for about a month. You could say we are a completely new team.
I have been ice dancing for quite a long time and have previously worked with about four or five partners. Even so, I feel once again that every time I start with a new partner, it is truly different. This is because everyone has a different way of skating and different habits.
So, we are currently continuing to learn how to synchronize with our new partner and how to dance with someone new.
Quan Ye: In my case, the process of synchronizing with a new person is a significant part of it. Ki-hyun dances in a way different from the partners I have worked with before. So, I also feel like I am learning how to dance in a new way. In particular, being able to try new lifts, elements, and techniques has made for a very unique experience these days.

Ki-hyun: I had almost no experience training seriously with a partner for a long period of time before. So,
first of all, the fact that another person is always skating with me was intriguing in itself.
Since we now have to synchronize our movements when dancing, we are fine-tuning every minute detail, such as how to coordinate our dance and how to create a natural connection between us.

Q7. Please tell us about your plans for participating in domestic and international competitions this season.
Quan Ye: As of now, there are no confirmed plans. We are currently reviewing various options with our coaches. Regarding international competitions, I am considering participating in Senior B-level events and the Challenger Series, but I haven't decided which specific events to compete in yet and am continuing to discuss them with my coaches.
Domestically, I am naturally planning to participate in the President's Cup Ranking Competition and the National Championships held in December and January. I also hope to meet the minimum technical score requirements to compete in next year's Four Continents Championships and World Championships. I will do my best! (In Korean)

Q8. Could you share any specific goals you are envisioning as a team for this season?
Quan Ye: I think our goal is to differentiate ourselves from other teams by showcasing a style that is as creative and unique as possible.
As this is our first season together, it is also a new beginning for all of us. After finishing the last Olympics, I started a four-year journey toward the next Olympics with a new partner, and for Ki-hyun, it is his first season with a partner.
So, this season, I want to explore what we can do together and discover how we can differentiate ourselves from other teams and showcase our uniqueness through various attempts. I also think of it as a process of learning what styles we like, and what our individual strengths and weaknesses are.
In conclusion, I think this season will be a time of learning together as we get to know each other, harmonize our skating styles, and find our rhythm.
