I’m so glad others are mentioning the Virtue Moir Golden Waltz, because I’m curious to know which version ice dancers are watching and consider the definitive version. There is this 2010 worlds version that showcases their beautiful lines, but the camera work is not good and doesn’t even show their feet at times. It has 376K views, which is incredibly high for a CD. V/M even commentate on that version in an interview.

Is it this earlier version from GP France 2009? I seem to recall C/Pom watching that one (note that his parents are the OG Golden Waltz dancers).

Or are the dancers watching this SD from 2011 ? Probably one of my favourites.

Or are they watching this ISU instructional video where teenage V/M appear?

In any case, it’s wild that so many are referring to 16-17-year-old videos of Virtue Moir, but it’s also a testament to that team’s quality of skating.

The draw for the international is scheduled for this evening.

Oona & Gage have 2 GPs up front this year (they got the Skate America TBD last year) so maybe they prefer to have a later competition debut this year?

And also teams tend to “graduate” from doing Lake Placid as they become more successful. After medaling at 4CC and being a high-enough tier American team to get 2 GPs, they may not see as much value in Lake Placid as they did when they were less established.

I love how much support they already have. She was mainly a solo dancer but also did singles and pairs when she was younger! Love that versatility!

Thanks for the insight. That is true. I just hope it's not an injury. Pate/Bye also have two GPs and are still doing LP.

However, Quan Ye cannot play for the Korean national team in the 2026-2027 season.
An official from the Korea Skating Federation explained in a phone call with Yonhap News, "Quan Ye was selected for the 2026-2027 national team along with Lim Hae-na, but he lost his eligibility as the team was formed with new players after the disbandment," adding, "It is unfortunate, but according to the regulations of the Korean Olympic Committee, it is difficult for him to participate in international competitions as a member of the Korean national team this season."
Accordingly, Kim Ki-hyun [Hannah] and Quan Ye are expected to compete in the 2027-2028 season national team selection trials to try and secure a spot on the national team.
Meanwhile, according to a source in the ice skating community, Kim Ki-hyun is reportedly planning to regain her South Korean citizenship.

Didn't know that KSU had such rules. Ye is a Korean citizen and I do not get how he lost his eligibility in the national team after breaking up with Hannah Lim. Shame if they have to wait a year to compete internationally.

It sounded to me like it wasn't about citizenship per se, but that the team of Lim/Quan qualified for the national team, and the team of Kim/Quan hasn't qualified for anything. And you know you can't do anything for the KSU unless you qualified in all those specific 3-6 ranking competitions they only hold once a year!

I'm sorry that that NuHannah and Ye won't be able to compete this year--maybe they can do some club comps in Canada/the U.S. They seem well-matched in their first video clip, and I'm looking forward to seeing more of them. On the other hand, they need time to develop as a team, so hopefully it's all good either way.
