I can see Fear/Gibson at least sticking around for 2026 Worlds, same with the Finns. Possibly even Piper/Paul because they really, really, really want that title even one time, I think. After that... 🤷‍♂️

Lilah and Olivia have deep pocketbooks, so maybe they'll keep on keeping on?
Right. I'm not expecting ChoBat to be in Prague next year. GuigFab may go if they manage silver in Milano, thinking they could get that World title too.

I was thinking more post-2026 Worlds, though, in terms of who would stick around.

Shilling/Baeten (need +9.44), Britzillians (need +2.83), Kudryavtseva/Karankevich (need +2.46), Stanley/Urano (need +8.03) and Ziobrowska/Judd (need +1.75) having another bash at Worlds minimums. After this there's only Challenge Cup, 4CCs and the OWG test event.

Ivanitskiy/Sperry starting their quest for the third Euros spot.

They have
Janet Coton (Nice, Ephesus Cup and Golden Spin this season) as technical controller.
Christian Nuchtern (NRW Trophy and EduSport Trophy) and Jonathan Guerreiro (Denkova-Staviski Cup) as technical specialists.
Judges from Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Italy, France and Austria.

I think the Taschlers will be the leading non-IAM Euro team; still to be determined who will be the leading non-IAM North American team - GreenP or ZingKol. DemLeM and the Mrazkovi will also be in the Euros Top 5 mix, remains to be seen how quickly Tali/Lafornara and GrimmSkiy rise.

Hate to tell you this but there may well be three teams fighting it out for US#1. CPon are catchable especially now that G/P have their mojo back. And the judges seem to love Z/K. CPon have the edge but it’s not insurmountable.

I hope that there will be adjustments to the rules, which normally happen after the Olympics. I think one reason why the Czech teams are underscored is that Zanni is good in teaching skills that are not rewarded as much as they used to. Speed, power, depth of edge and so on. I think the rules should reward both kind of skaters the entertainers and the great technicians (in this case I mean in terms of skating technique). This is why it would have been so important to keep the pattern in the RD, because it evens out the playing field. A good programme usually beats good skating skills and this is a developement that I have a hard time to come to terms with.

All IMO of course.

"still to be determined who will be the leading non-IAM North American team"

CPom are an IAM team? This sentence doesn't suggest that they will be the number one, simply that they will be the number one US team from IAM battling it out to be US #1.

I really like the Taschlers, and definitely agree their speed and power should be better rewarded (and I was/am for keeping the pattern in the RD).

Imo their lower placement at Euros had more to do with a weaker RD skate though. They were 20th in base value in that segment. The judges had them 6th in PCS, but the levels held them back. Even if you think they should have had better GOE (I do in general, though I'm not sure about that particular program, since they didn't seem as sharp), the levels were still a problem. They were better technically in the FD, but a couple places higher in the RD would have moved them to the 3rd warmup after the ice resurface which would probably have bumped the FD score a little (which isn't fair, but it's not something specific to them). They could have been at least 8th with a slightly sharper RD (which is maybe still too low, but is better).

Obviously, they can and have done better in levels in other events (although at SC, they were last in RD BV and 3rd in RD PCS), and the FDs have been stronger. I'm not saying that it's the only or even biggest issue for them. Levels being sometimes an issue doesn't mean they aren't underscored also. I'm just saying that I don't think they have no chance to move up based on this result. And since they can't make the judges properly reward their strengths, it's good that there is at least something more in their control that could help them.

We've seen this both ways: Belbin/Agosto overtaking Lang/Tchernishev, and possibly more relevant, Hubell/Donohue going back and forth with Chock/Bates, with the Shibs having their say.

I'm kind of hoping all 3 of the 3 top dance teams skip Prague. 1) Because I'm getting a bit tired of all three teams and want to see some of the younger teams getting the spotlight. 2) Because we could potentially experience some 2014 worlds-style podium chaos. 3) Because I'd enjoy watching:watch: the IAM machinations if Fear/Gib, La/La, Car/Pom and Lop/Bris all end up in the top 4. ;)

Has anyone seen an entry list for the OWG Test Skate in Milan?

Apparently, Green/Parsons will be there

The Taschlers said after Euros that they also got one of the spots.
There are a handful of skaters and/or feds who have announced who is competing at the test event, but no official entry list that I've seen yet (just looked yesterday).

KudKar got the 2.46 (and more) they needed for the Worlds CTES min in the RD aleady. The Britzilians WD, so they'll be trying at 4CCs, I guess. And the other three did not improve on their RD TES today, so I'm guessing they probably won't get the Worlds CTES in the FD.

The Britzilians had a crash with another team on the warm up and Jay had to carry Natalia off the ice. :( Hopefully she's not too badly hurt and they'll be able to go to 4CCs.

Entries for the OWG Test Skate in Milan are finally here:

I'm disappointed that Canada isn't sending anyone to the test skate. I'm also surprised that G/F are not going. Most of the teams are either coached by an Italian or are training in Italy. I suppose it's T/V, G/P and the Taschlers for the podium.

Given there are 2 Italian teams entered (Dozzi/Papetti and Paolino/Tuba), I guess we can suppose that they received entries only from 9 countries.

Yes, I'm a little surprised there weren't entries from 10 countries. Sweden & France have entries in the other three events - ReiMaj train in Oberstdorf with JvRStef and LagCaf train with TurkVers in Helsinki.

Coton and Nuchtern again at Challenge Cup this week. They're joined by Marie-Louise Gijtenbeek.
Panel of judges have Azerbaijan and Cyprus again. Here joined by Prins, a Ukrainian judge and the Norwegian judge.

Asian Winter Games panel was as follows (names shown on screen):

Joanna Budner-Szuman POL - tech controller; Ayako Higashino JPN and Taehwa Yang KOR - tech specialists

Five judge panel - So Young An KOR, Nadezhda Paretskaya KAZ, Fan Yang CHN, Akiko Kobayashi JPN, and Susanne Mautner AUS.

On the jumbotron in the arena, as they were announcing the panel, I saw Karen Butcher CAN listed, so I'm guessing she was either the Referee or Asst Referee (neither was listed on the on-screen graphics for any of the events).

Thanks. Yes, bizarelly any of the results pdfs they generated list the officials. And they decided that referees are not worthy to be listed on screen along with the other names during the stream.

Butcher must have been the Referee. Because international competitions don't have the assistant referee role.
Mautner is Australian.

Looks like the Taschlers have withdrawn, so down to 9 teams.
