Laporeva/Brissaud won Masters of France.
More interestingly, Dupayage/Nabais got 2nd over Demougeot/Le Mercier. They were close in the RD, while in the FD, D/N were comfortably ahead (also in terms of PCS).

What a difference a few months can make.
Dupayage/Nabais started the season getting 2nd at Masters de France over D/LM and ended up the year heavily losing to Lagouge/Caffa at Nationals and not getting selected for Euros.

I think this selection consists in a debut for Lagouge/Caffa in a Senior ISU Championship.

Hmmmm... I suppose, though they don't use the same music for the 2nd half of the RD and TurkVers are styled more closely like 1950s rockabilly than 1960s soul. And the 2nd half of LimQuan's RD definitely stays in that lane moreso than TurkVers' RD.

I'm mostly worried about that score. Does the Korean Fed not do overscoring at Nats? Their score is 6 points lower to what they scored at Warsaw Cup and more in line with their scores on the GP series.

The scores were stingy for the Women's SP, IMO. Waiting to see the protocols, but I agree about the score concern too.

So, here's Lim/Quan's new RD -

I fail to understand why they made the change from their original RD. They may have come up with something even less memorable than before and coupled it with the most generic costuming ever. WTF was IAM thinking here?
I think both of their RDs this season are utterly forgettable - which is wild when this is the team you have to work with? I can only assume that judges have said something to them and now that the Olympics is a definite go for them, they really have to make the FD at worlds and maybe a new RD will give them more confidence to do that?

I doubt those are the final costumes. Hannah wore that dress earlier in the season before switching to the bell bottoms.

Nothing particularly interesting about this new program thus far, sadly.

Surely they're not going to have any trouble making the FD at Worlds. They made it easily last season.
I think they had better material last season and some other teams have really stepped up.

Bearing in mind they were 14th at worlds and some teams that were behind them in overall standings last year were:
  • Taschlers (beat them 3 for 3 this season so far)
  • Orihara/Pirininen (beat them at Finlandia GP)
  • Smart/Dieck (clearly on the rise)
  • Bratti/Somerville (very uncharacteristic mistake)
  • Bekker/Hernandez (LQ have beaten them this season, but their points trajectory has been rising with a Golden Spin win)

Going off the SB for the RDs, Lim/Quan should make the FD with ease. And their FD is a much better scoring program for them, so it really shouldn't be a problem for then to earn the Oly spot in Boston.

I hope there are no announcers with that strange New England accent at the World Championships. I find them very difficult to understand.
Like Whit Davis, who is being interviewed here?

If so, don't worry. Folks from SE CT are seldom sports announcers.

However if you mean the Boston accent, all bets are off:

Cross-posting here from the AUS/NZL News thread in GSD (Malcolm is a Canadian citizen):
Romy Malcolm is on Ice Partner Search, so I guess she and Kobi Chant split up.
"I have experience competing internationally with Team USA(jr) and Team Australia (sr)."

She competed one international season with Noah Lafornara in 2022-23: https://usfigureskatingfanzone.com/...er/-nbsp--romy-malcolm-and-noah-lafornara/731

Looks like the Sofia Trophy entries are updated on the European Criterium website - http://www.europeancriterium.eu/sign_up_list

Last chance for CTES mins ahead of the 4CCs entry deadline for Stanley/Urano; lots of junior teams trying for Jr Worlds CTES mins (last event for those will be Bavarian Open).

Sofia Trophy have a panel similar to EduSport Trophy (which was quite generous in scoring).
Same referee, same technical controller and 3 out of 5 judges are the same.

Olivia Marr is also on IPS.
Her name sounded vaguely familiar to me and her IPS profile includes this:
I’ve spent two seasons competing as a lead and have also trained in following, including testing the Ravensburger Waltz with a coach. My experience in both roles will help me build a strong partnership quickly.
She and Mia Sugino placed 7th of 15 Pre-Novice dance teams at the 2024 Skate Canada Challenge in April 2024 (last season's video links are here https://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/th...nts-to-two-skaters.110261/page-5#post-6590379) and she & Mia competed in Novice Dance in 2 non-qualifying competitions in BC (their VIDA profile lists last season's Pre-Novice results only): https://www.vancouvericedance.com/skaters

The new Lim/Quan RD is exceedingly generic. They are so expressive and fun and deserve much better.

I think it is safe to say IAM is running out of ideas, or has too many teams, or both.
I wonder if Lim & Quan could hire Scali for a program or two? L&Q are both fun, entertaining performers; and they aren't a traditional romantic build. It would be nice to see them mix it up--bring out Quan's performance strengths on a regular basis--and L&Q aren't so different from Orihara & Pirinen. They aren't a tall, fast team that's going to break out based on pure technical prowess--though they are in a good place for working on developing their technical skills. But L&Q are a lot of fun.
