Yes, they could. But I still think it sucks.

Believe me, I'm not arguing for the men to be excluded from the Olympic event. I'm only saying (and hoping) that men might not be completely excluded from international-level synchro.

IMO @Orm Irian has it right re the IOC's reason for making the synchro event women-only.

Yes, but I will echo the sentiments already expressed that it sucks that they can't earn a spot on the Oly team.

It was linked above. The headline and article were not written clearly IMO and interpreted as the 3 sports in the headline were gender-neutral, not just two of them.
