RIP Olympia Dukakis

If anyone hasn't seen Tales of the City, there are 4 seasons. It broke barriers in 1993/4 when it aired on PBS as Ms. Dukakis portrayed a trans woman as the central character in a show set in 1976 San Francisco. BFD for public TV in the early 90s. Moved to HBO or Showtime for season 2 and 3 in 1998 and 2001 because of RW hysteria, then the Netflix presentation in 2019.

She really was one-of-a-kind. She will be missed, RIP.

I just remembered her playing the principle in Mr Holland's Opus. She was so warm & wonderful.

RIP....As "Moonstruck" is one of my all time favorite movies I am feeling nostalgic for Rose Castorini quotes:

You're a little boy and you like to be bad.

Why do men chase women?

What you don't know about women is a lot.

I want you to know that no matter what you do you're going to die just like everybody else.

When you love them they drive you crazy cause they know they can.

YOUR LIFE IS NOT BUILT ON NOTHING!

Fare thee well Olympia.

Did any of the ladies of Steel Magnolias ever work with one another again? Their chemistry was so undeniable. Dukakis' most iconic roles (Rose, Clairee and Anna) were quite different from each other, sharing only traits of intelligence, warmth and wisdom.

She really was incredible. Just to add to the great performances listed, she was also excellent in a supporting role in Away From Her as well. I want to check out Tales From the City.
