Practice stream info from Jackie Wong!

Practice cam info for #WorldFigure
  • Every practice from the practice rink will be livestreamed on Peacock
  • Practice sessions uploaded to USFS YouTube after the livestream
  • There will be a few practices with commentary (hosted by Jean-Luc Baker, and I will join for a few TBD)
ETA - Jackie has since confirmed there will be no stream for the practices at the main rink.

But, seeing that the main rink practices are open to ticket holders, this is the best solution to enable fans to be able to get decent practice reports from both venues.

Skaters don't even know their groupings yet. Spoke to a few people and one of the Federations even asked today.

That's crazy. And I'd say pretty unfair to a team who may be traveling Monday and ending up in that 6 a.m. dance practice. :scream:

But is it? The colored block time schedule has been out for 10 days, so these teams have known for that long that they may very well wind up in a 6am Tuesday practice. Surely they've already accounted for that with their travel schedules.
And for those who have to scramble to avoid Heathrow.
I'd guess this may throw the bigger wrench into those traveling over the weekend & on Monday than the ongoing uncertainty of which practice group you're in.

But, looking over the teams competing in Boston, let's figure out just how many are going to be affected by jet lag or intercontinental travel -
Teams training in the Eastern Time Zone - 20
Harris/Chan, Ritter/Brykalov, Fabbri/Ayer, Lajoie/Lagha, Gilles/Poirier, Smart/Dieck, Lopareva/Brissaud, Fear/Gibson, Bekker/Hernandez, Davis/Smolkin, Soucisse/Firus, Tkachenko/Kiliakov, Lim/Quan, Reed/Ambrulevicius, Delcamp/Akalin, Larson/Kapran, Green/Parsons, Carreira/Ponomarenko, Chock/Bates

Teams traveling from Asia (both have ties to IAM/IAM-O, so they may be in Canada right now) - 2
Ren/Xing, Yoshida/Morita

Teams traveling from Europe - 15
Kudryavtseva/Karankevich, Mrazkova/Mrazek, Taschlerova/Taschler, Turkkila/Versluis, Orihara/Pirinen, Demougeot/Le Mercier, Janse van Rensburg/Steffan, Ignateva/Szemko, Guignard/Fabbri, Manni/Roethlisberger, Verhaegh/van Geffen, Dovhal/Kulesza, Zehnder/Sieber, Pucherova/Lysak, Reitan/Majorov

It wouldn't surprise me if the 20-22 teams who are traveling from the East Coast/Montreal/Ontario are slotted into the earlier practice groups, and probably the smaller groups of 4 on the earlier ice sessions.

Taschlerova/Taschler are in the US, went via Amsterdam. There may have been others in the airplane footage.
A lot of skaters/teams are already in the US.

Pavlova/Sviatchenko & Danilova/Tsiba flew to Connecticut last weekend & Hase/Volodin joined them earlier this week. Mone Chiba has been photographed at SCoB in the last day or two. Obviously Izzo/Maierhofer and Mihhail Selevko split time between Boston & Europe already & have been in Boston awhile.

Going through my IG stories... Kudryavtseva/Karankevich, Nikita Starostin are also in Boston already, Yoshida/Morita are in Montreal.

Cross posting from out there. It’s absolutely a merde order for Tuesdays meetup, but we get another shot at both the men and women on Friday and Saturday mornings, respectively.

If I get up at 4 am on Tuesday in time to drive in and plank my derrière in a seat for dance group 1 at 6 am, LaLa BETTER show up!
This is where IG-stalking could come in handy. I wouldn't hold my breath unless you see one of them posting on their IG or tagged in another IAM team photos about traveling to Boston early-ish on Monday. Look for Marjorie or Zach in photos from CarPon, Holly Harris, or FabAyer, or possibly Kelly Ann Laurin - they're all good friends & will be traveling from Montreal. You should have a pretty good idea before you go to bed on Monday whether or not LajLag are likely at that 6am practice.

I suppose it’s good I have been waking up between 3:30-4:30 for work the past three weeks. I’m now on that schedule so will have no problem with the 6:00 group. The rest of the week is what will likely kill me. Hopefully my body allows me to start sleeping in a bit.

Same. I've been waking early and dead by 9 pm. I suppose staying up an extra hour or two won't kill me.

The ice dance teams from Finland are in North America. Piper Gilles posted a photo on her IG with them. Not sure if they are in Boston or training with them in Scarborough.
Pretty sure they're in Scarborough. Yuho Pirinen posted on his IG story some pics/video from Niagara Falls earlier today.

VLDigs and HocKun are traveling today per their IGs.

Am only just now popping in here, totally forgot Worlds was happening, but on the bolded above and adding in you posted this a day ago I would just say that most federations would have had tickets booked long before 11 days ago. So I think @peibeck point still stands.

Oh, I'm sure that most federations would have certainly booked their tickets long before 11 days ago, but the initial ISU Announcement for Worlds also had the basic competition schedule included, so everyone's known for months that the women & pairs SPs are on Wednesday, men's SP is on Thursday & the RD is on Friday and chosen their travel dates for various skaters/teams based on that schedule rather than on the Tuesday practice schedule.

As it is, further IG updates from yesterday - the Mrazkovi, Manni/Roethlisberger & Mia Risa Gomez have all arrived in the US. IG Sunday morning - Loicia Demougeot posted a pic from their rink in VdL captioned "last one of the week"; Nina Pinzarrone, Sara Conti & Camille Kovalev posted airport pics.

More skater travel updates - Davide Lewton Brain & Lukas Britschgi are on a flight today, same with Vouillamoz/Bouvart; Mikhail Shaidorov (and coach Ivan Righini) posted an IG story pic from outside the White House; Pucherova/Lysak are already in Boston (so that accounts for all of the YGA dance teams.

I'm a little surprised that more of the women don't seem to have traveled yet, but maybe they're just being shy on IG, lol.

Both Annika Hocke and Anastasia Vaipan-Law lost their luggages (I assume the whole team...). Ana posted on IG-story.

I assume and fear that is because of the Heathrow power outage on Friday, where the airport was closed all day, leading to a lot of cancellation and delays. This has probably lead to some chaos that apparently is affecting flights from all Europe, not only UK.

Simon Briggs wrote on X 5 hours ago that the luggage is still located in Dublin. I checked and per Anas story they arrived in Boston about 23 hours ago, and the luggage is still missing - so this seems to be taking an awful lot of time.

I´m staring to fear that is going to affect more skaters if the chaos is related to the Heathrow chaos. I´m assuming Annika flew from Germany.

Let´s hope this was just a crazy random coincidence and that they will get their luggage quickly!

Risa Gomez seems to have arrived safely with her luggage. She already had a practice session earlier with her skates on.

Why would lost luggage be related to the Heathrow power outage when neither skater flew through Heathrow? VLDigs connected from Dundee to Dublin to Boston; and HocKun would have flown from Milano since they train in Bergamo.

I´m guessing more indirectly.

The shutdown of London’s Heathrow Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, is causing chaos across the world today, with thousands of flights affected and major disruption expected to last for days.

(...)

“The impact of this incident can cascade over several days, as aircraft, crew, passengers are out of place, with limited spare aircraft and seats available to recover passengers,” says the analytics firm.

When Heathrow has a big delay, I guess it will cause delays in all Europe, they will have to make room for all the planes in the European airpace, that is already very crowded. Maybe the airport staff can´t keep up with the changes and luggage will be issues

Edit: A lot of planes already in the air headed for Heathrow had to suddenly land at other airports. Which may have caused a chaos at other airports and with luggage.

I rode the express shuttle from Boston Logan to the Back Bay area yesterday with a young lady from England (NOT a skater) whose flight out of Heathrow was rerouted, and she had to fly to Copenhagen to get to Boston because of the Heathrow mess.

I think I spotted the Chinese lady single skater (An) late this afternoon, but not sure since I don't always recognize skaters when they aren't all made up and bedazzled. I 99.999% sure I saw Kevin Aymoz, looking tiffed in a houndstooth jacket.

More skaters traveling today - Grassl & Guarino Sabate from Torino, Demirboga from Washington DC; Demougeot/Le Mercier are on their way from France; Petrokina left Tallinn several hours ago; Verhaegh/van Geffen have begun their trip (not sure if they were in Europe or in Toronto with the rest of Margaglio's skaters); Delcamp/Akalin are flying up the East Coast today; Tim Dieck did a quick IG story about the new snow storm in Montreal & said "I guess it's a good thing we travel today."

Skaters who are already in Boston - Adam Siao Him Fa, Lorine Schild, Ekaterina Kurakova, Kevin Aymoz, Fedir Kulish, Adam Hagara, Lev Vinokur, Vaananen/Clerici...

ETA - Chris Howarth posted on his IG that he's on his way to Boston! @MacMadame - the important info you need to properly prepare our Bingo cards! :ROFLMAO:

ETA2 - both Orihara/Pirinen and Soucisse/Firus posted travel pics today, so I'm guessing that means Turkkila/Versluis and Gilles/Poirier are also traveling today. Also, Janse van Rensburg/Steffan are in the air.
