Twitter storm in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . .
Meghan McCain just tweeted in reaction to this, "Shameful". I replied to her that she was ridiculous and not qualified to give an opinion. I also listed my education & experience. Let's see if she has the guts to reply. If she does, I'll challenge her to speak to me directly. Let's have at it! :watch:

Not the person I was thinking of, but we are talking about an International Emmy - kind of the equivalent of winning a World Music Award - its an award, but it doesn't really mean much. Also, as I understand it most people in New York across the political spectrum hate Cuomo, and so McCain, as a resident of New York, probably isn't alone in her reaction. I have to admit to rolling my eyes, going 'huh'.

I think the statement qualified by the adjective, "most" is overstated since I'm a native New Yorker who can appreciate Cuomo's in your face approach. Having said that, I checked various publications around the state and Cuomo has been a 60-65% approval rating. Anyone who can get New Yorkers to pull together during a crisis like this and bring ********* infection rates below 1% and the daily deaths down to low single digits in state of 19 million is masterful. I worked with the New York State Department of Health for several years and their talent in the health care data analysis realm is considerable. And Cuomo always fully acknowledged that as well as his medical staff.

Hating Cuomo is so 2019.

Cuomo's approval rating was 59% positive, 33% negative in October 2020. Although he was roundly disapproved of in 2019, his ********* handling approval level is 73%, driving a much improved overall rating this year.

Kelly Loeffler has YKW. I guess she got it being crawled up the ass of Trumpworld so much so that she'd rather him lose in another recount of GA than tend to her own run-off in January.
A second test was inconclusive, although, I read that that means that a small amount of YKW was detected but not enough to test positive. No idea what that means exactly. I guess, it's possible that she might have gotten infected only recently or she was asymptomatic and the YKW load is already decreasing (although, I really hope it's not that because of all the people she would have exposed by refusing to wear a mask).

The French Laundry dinner is rebooting efforts to recall Gavin Newsom:

It's hard to recall elected officials. I think it's more likely that he won't win re-election as Governor (assuming he runs again). I know there has been talk of Newsom running for President one day even as far back as him being Mayor of SF and I do think this incident may damage his chances. I can't see it getting him recalled though. Especially since one of the complaints is that his kids are attending in-person school.

The reason public schools aren't open here is because the school districts mostly don't want to, not because C19 policy requires it. Now the schools may only open for certain grades or in certain circumstances but they can open and they can even apply for a waiver to open more fully. But parents don't want it because they don't think it's safe.

At the moment, Governor Cuomo plans to host his mother and two of his daughters at Thanksgiving. He says the plans may change but he's urging New Yorkers not to travel, so shouldn't he lead by example? https://www.nationalreview.com/news...hanksgiving-after-urging-caution-for-holiday/
He’s so disgusting. He and Newsom. It doesn’t matter that he changed. They are liars who act every day like rules shouldn’t apply to them. Why? Why did he say the things he said and plan to do something different? Why? It needs to be explored.

Yeah it's really dumb. He shouldnt have done it and definitely shouldn't have lied that it was outside. But the people criticizing him the most are like people who won't wear a mask under any circumstances and whose favorite politicians take NO precautions and are proud of it.
So what? Those people are not calling him out for what he did; he is being called out for hypocrisy.

If I say lying is always wrong and you say lying is often justified, people have reason to expect me to always be truthful and you to be untrustworthy. If you and I both lie, I am the hypocrite there and you are just as entitled to call me out for that as anyone else is; you are not a hypocrite in doing so unless you call me out for being dishonest.

Newsom is a hyopocrite and a liar, at least in this instance, and that is in no way mitigated by the beliefs or actions of anyone else, including those Republicans who disdain precautions.

A rash of fraudulent [you-know-what] unemployment claims filed under the names of jail and prison inmates, including more than 100 on death row, has bilked California out of hundreds of millions of dollars, a law enforcement task force said Tuesday.

In a letter to Gov. Gavin Newsom, the task force, led by district attorneys from San Diego to Fresno Counties, asked for “significant resources” to combat “what appears to be the most significant fraud on taxpayer funds in California history,” and wrote that claims had been paid under the names of tens of thousands of incarcerated Californians.

The article indicates that similar fraud happened in other states.

@Brenda_Bottems you can faint now.

Mayor travels to Mississippi for Thanksgiving after pleading with Denverites to stay home if possible
“I fully acknowledge that I have urged everyone to stay home and avoid unnecessary travel. I have shared how my family cancelled our plans for our traditional multi-household Thanksgiving celebration. What I did not share, but should have, is that my wife and my daughter have been in Mississippi, where my daughter recently took a job. As the holiday approached, I decided it would be safer for me to travel to see them than to have two family members travel back to Denver,” Hancock said in the statement.
The possibility that it might be even safer for him to stay home and set a good example for others is evidently beyond his grasp. :wall:

Of course there was another one! Pathetic hypocrisy!!

Why are democrats doing this? Seriously. I mean many conservatives are like do whatever don’t let ***** dictate your life anyway but democrats do say be extra extra extra careful and actually don’t travel to their voters. Why are living the way they attack republicans for speaking! That’s the core of it. Many democrats are living by republican rules. So that’s strange?

Is it like when republicans have abortions?

Because they know what's right, but what's right is hard, and they make excuses for themselves

Isn't that essentially what hypocrisy is?

What I wonder is why people seem to think it's somehow meaningful that they do they do these things. If you know what you should be doing, the fact that other people aren't doing it shouldn't affect your decisions, regardless of their authority. If you do allow it to affect your decisions, then you, too, are making excuses for yourself.

People are flawed. You have to expect them to fail. That doesn't mean that the right thing isn't the right thing.
Is it like when republicans have abortions?
It's more like when someone pro-life has an abortion. Republicans, like Democrats, hold a variety of views.

Gavin Newsom was not the only politician who had dinner at the French Laundry recently.

While indoor dining was allowed in Napa County at the time with no specified limit on the number of households, the state’s guidelines “strongly discouraged” social gatherings and capped them at three households. Breed’s dinner at an opulent restaurant — amid an economic catastrophe that’s shuttered countless small businesses and stretched the lines at local food banks to new lengths — might not have technically violated the rules, but it isn’t a great look.

The dinner would have certainly violated San Francisco’s health guidelines if it took place in Breed’s own city.
I live in San Francisco, and my biggest criticism of city government here is that it doesn't hold itself to the same standards it expects of ordinary citizens. Mayor Breed's night on the town is just another example.

ETA: Satirical commentary from the San Francisco Chronicle's restaurant critic, Soleil Ho.
